1-Hour Photo for iOS

1-Hour Photo is an innovative app that generates striking photos for you in black and white, but you have to wait one hour to see them. Rather than going back over your photos immediately, you can snap a few and then forget about them, only to be pleasantly surprised when they're ready to view.

Pros

Fun idea: While an hour doesn't seem like a terribly long time, waiting that long for a result is almost unheard of these days. Because we're so used to having instant access to everything, it's nice to have a little bit of a forced break imposed. And even if it's only an hour, the wait really does make you see the photos you took in a new light.

Clear interface: This app's interface is just about as easy as they come. It opens directly to the camera, the main view of which dominates the screen. Below the viewfinder, there's a large button for taking the photo, and next to the button, numbers displaying how many photos you have processing at the moment and how long until the next one is ready. When the photos are done, they'll show up in your camera roll.

Cons

No zoom: To have your photos processed in this app, you have to take them through the app's camera. But this camera offers no special features at all. It has no flash, and you can't zoom in on anything.

Bottom Line

1-Hour Photo is a great app to play around with. And it's free, so there's really no reason not to try it out. While it's probably not the way you'll choose to take all of your photos, especially since black and white is the only output option, it is a nice alternative to have on hand for the right moment.
