While it may lack some advanced features, zsDuplicateHunter Standard performs fairly well. The program's multipane interface makes it easy to select directories to scan and offers some standard search parameters and filters. Like its professional version, you can search for certain types of files, size, and content. It also can search within ZIP archives, and even include system and hidden files in the process. The program employs several algorithms to find redundant files. However, more advanced comparison tools--such as comparing a files path, extension, and time attributes--are missing. ZsDuplicateHunter Standard executed fairly quickly in our tests, taking only a few seconds to scan our entire hard disk. After a scan, it displays a list of clones. From there, you can choose to open or obliterate documents permanently. You can opt to store scan sessions and save search results into HTML or XML report formats for future use. Overall, for users looking for a simple yet effective way to clean out their PC, zsDuplicateHunter Standard is worth checking out.

"very good duplicate finder"

Pros
unlike other stupid duplicate finders, which compare by filename or by filesize only, this one is more intelligent. it can compare by checksum and by digest (more accurate and slow checksum). also, you can combine checks: you can tell for example check that BOTH checksum and filesize match (this is the most reliable method). very useful if you have many many mp3s and there's duplicate ones under different filename. program works fast: took 2-3 min for my 1300 mp3s.

it's not free. 30-day trial, without restrictions though.
