"Good is good, but..."
Version: iWisoft Video Converter 1.2.0
Pros
Excellent freeware, you can also adjust the brightness and contrast the video before convert other format.
Cons
1. Needs to update before use, that's not fair. For the user that is in trial using and needs to use several time, if it is good, they will update.
2. When it startup, you'll see an update successfully popup message. That's obstructs to all users.Summary
So, I deduct the score to 4.

"Fast, and loads of output files"
Version: iWisoft Video Converter 1.2.0
Pros
Fast, easy to use, lots of output conversion formats.
Cons
There aren't any!!
Summary
This is very fast at converting my 1h 17m avi video into mp3 format, and there is so many formats to choose from. This is a must have download because it doesn't need the internet, so wherever you are, you can convert!!! Definitely download, even if you don't need it now, there will be a time when you do.

"Excellent product, love it."
Version: iWisoft Video Converter 1.2.0
Pros
Very well designed, especially a free one. Never have any problem using it. Works like a charm. FANTASTIC!
Cons
Cannot merge individual videos that are already converted without having to reconvert them.
Do not have the capability to run batch conversion for mutiple tasks; other than that the iWisoft Video Converter is the best one I ran across.Summary
Deserve one extra star: Six stars!

"Works but huge result files"
Version: iWisoft Video Converter 1.2.0
Pros
Very fast, fairly easy to use
Cons
Converted single movies are huge compared to the originals and some "glitches" in result
Summary
I had a number of videos meant for personal and YouTube use that were in various formats (avi, mpg, wmv) that I wanted to convert to another (mostly mpg). While the process is very fast, most of my videos (1 meg or so) were converted to huge files (4 meg or so). Also, the converted videos weren't perfect, often having a "glitch", such as a pause where there wasn't one in the original video, or changes in brightness/contrast, etc, although one converted video was actually sharper than the original! Oddly, "merging" multiple files (which takes much longer to process) resulted in a smaller combined size: I combined two WMV files, totalling 20 meg, and the result was about 15 meg!
The interface is fairly intuitive, and, though I don't like that it sets its own directory as the unchangeable output directory (you can change it for a given execution, but it goes back to its own dir when you close then restart it), it does open the output directory, so you don't have to go searching for it. Also, the large interface window was designed for a higher display setting (mine is set for the lowest, because I find the higher displays difficult to see/view), so, sometimes, I have to move that window from side-to-side to see/access/use everything I need, but, that's a minor "flaw".
It has a huge list of conversion types, neatly arranged in a single menu (the arrow to the right of the "Profile" box), so you can see all of them. But the "sub" menu (e.g., selecting "Common video" shows many types (e.g., AVI, MPG, WMV, etc), but they are not alphabetically listed and have to be scrolled to see all of them, so you might have trouble finding exactly which one you want. There is also an "All Profiles" sub-menu, but, again, it is not alphabetically arranged.
Before iWisoft, I had to run one program to convert and, optionally, another to merge, so iWisoft is a big time saver. Also, iWisoft is much smaller than the latest version one of the other video converter programs I use, so that's a "bonus" (i.e., less download time and less disk space).
So, though I'll use my previously existing video converter programs for single conversions, I will use iWisoft for most merges and for videos not available in my pre-existing software. -
"Terrific for a freeware"
Version: iWisoft Video Converter 1.2.0
Pros
When I googled video conversion softwares everything was coming up as share/pay ware except for Super which is very difficult to use. This was the only freeware that had a good interface and converted from everything to everything else
Cons
Interface is a bit clunky
Summary
Excellent value

"Very comprehensive video editing functions"
Version: iWisoft Video Converter 1.2.0
Pros
Straightforward Interface enables you to accomplish what you want without digging through menus.Precise settings for various functions. Doesn't eat up all system resources. Orderly layout for controls. Extremely Versatile
Cons
The only complaint I have is the automatic opening of your browser every time you open the software. Automatic Update Check is very annoying
Summary
If you want more than this from video editing software you better open up your wallet.
It handles a multitude of formats and allows you to adjust pretty much anything you can think of along the way.as well as conversion you can also crop, trim add effects, add text or logos to your projects. After applying all these changes, there doesn't seem to be a loss in quality. It's a keeper!!! -
