iPhone Backup Extractor extracts iTunes or iCloud files from both your iPhone and iPad devices, which is helpful in case of lost or deleted files.

Pros

Extraction options: iPhone Backup Extractor offers a variety of extraction options for your device content. For example, you can extract contacts as vCards or as CSV files. SMS files can be extracted as HTML or CSV files.

Quick extraction: We found the extraction process very swift -- just seconds.

Cons

Requires a little technical know-how: While you don't have to be an expert, you will need to be comfortable handling CSV and HTML file formats, among others.

Difficult to navigate: With only four menu options and three tabs, iPhone Backup Extractor seems pretty streamlined. But after digging into it a bit, we found it vague and clunky. We paid a visit to the online Help page, hoping to find a guide to get us started, but it only offered a general overview. We eventually stumbled our way through extracting files to our designated folders.

Fails to immediately recognize device: We first opened the program and then plugged in our iPhone, expecting the program to recognize the device. We had to unplug and replug our device a few times, and, even then, the Backup Details overview didn't display our device type or the correct time.

Bottom Line

Technophiles will probably be more forgiving of iPhone Backup Extractor's cumbersome navigation and more appreciative of its extraction abilities. If you're looking for easier navigation and file extraction, you should look elsewhere.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of iPhone Backup Extractor 5.3.18.

"Saved my assets!"

February 23, 2015

 |  Version: iPhone Backup Extractor 5.4.30.147

Pros

It allows you to download your photos, videos, contacts, SMSs, recordings, etc. from an iPhone backup

Cons

The free version will only prove to you that it works. You'll need to buy the real version to actually recover more than 4 items of data.

Summary

So I lost my iPhone (boohoo, whatever) and bought a replacement from eBay, then activated it on AT&T, then took it back to my PC to hook it up to iTunes. iTunes *COMPLETELY* flubbed the whole restore-from-backup thing that should have put my old iPhones latest backup onto the new iPhone. Especially critical were my SMS record (which I may need for court) & all my photos and videos. Oh, the voice recordings were important too. As a former DBA, I figured there must be a backup file from my last backup of my old iPhone somewhere on disk, but iTunes was refusing to acknowledge its existence. I figured I was scr***d, but Google led me right to the iPhone Backup Extractor. I tried the free version. It helpfully proved its functionality by successfully locating my "missing" backup and then extracting 4 items. Just enough for me to say, "Okay, it works: Here's my $30, let's get the rest. So this product literally saved my ASSets!

"Pro version does just what you'd expect."

November 06, 2014  |  By john.setear

 |  Version: iPhone Backup Extractor 5.3.10

Pros

The Pro version did what Apple won't let you do: download an iCloud back-up from a particular device and access all its files. It's a matter of just a few clicks. First, you download the back-up, then you extract whichever files you wish (in big chunks like "photos" or "SMS messages". EXCELLENT product support when I had some issues.

Cons

The Home version does not seem to me to be worth $29.95. I originally got the Home version ,which allows you to download only 4 files at a time. (I think the free trial allows 2 at a time, although it might be 2 total; I didn't try the free version.) That was not at all what I wanted. The company was very reasonable about helping me upgrade to the Pro version, and I was happy with that as an overall value.

Summary

Be sure to consider carefully whether you want the Home or Pro version. For me, I wanted the Pro version, and it worked very well, and it was well worth the money.

"It was the only app that worked on my iphone4S!"

August 13, 2014  |  By LinAiling

 |  Version: iPhone Backup Extractor 4.8.12

Pros

The trial version allows detection of data while iphone is in recovery mode. This beats the rest of the trial apps that I have used. None of them worked. Seriously none.

Cons

None that I can think of...

Summary

The trial version of the app was so assuring, so without a doubt, the full version is worth the buck. The support team is so prompt and helpful in their reply. Thumbs up!

"It was worth every penny to me!"

June 23, 2014  |  By Prokopp

 |  Version: iPhone Backup Extractor 4.8.12

Pros

The software scans and extracts the lost or deleted data from either your iphone or your itunes back-up (the data itunes stores when you synch you iphone to itunes). In order to recover (save the data to your computer), you have to purchase the license for the software and register it. It was worth every penny to me to save 6 months of pictures and videos from my phone that Apple said was "unrecoverable". The iPhone Backup Extractor at
http://www.ipad-converters.org/extract-iphone-data/

is my go-to tool for that. It's worked flawlessly for me every time.

Cons

I am desperately in need of this!

Summary

I am very pleased that I was able to extract all my wife's contacts, pictures, and videos when we thought they were lost 3 months ago. Great software! Did exactly what I wanted it to do. Hopefully I can get it all restored back as one now.

"My wife got her dad back!!!!"

April 26, 2014  |  By Wndrmike

 |  Version: iPhone Backup Extractor 4.8.3

Pros

Ability to get back voicemails after upgrading to a new iphone.

Cons

Free version only let's you recover 2 files

Summary

My wife upgraded her iPhone, and in the process lost a voicemail from her father who passed away last year. She had a voicemail that he had left on her phone, but when she got her new iPhone, the voicemail was no longer there. She was in tears, so when I searched the web and found this product I immediately downloaded it and was able to recover the lost voicemail. Now she feels like she just got a piece of her father back. Thank you.

"This software is a scam!"

April 01, 2014  |  By tmjonline

 |  Version: iPhone Backup Extractor 4.8.3

Pros

If you are lucky you will get two files maybe.

Cons

There is no difference between the "home edition" and the "free edition".

Summary

This software is ****. Don't buy it. I want my money back. They want you to pay $100 to buy the "professional edition" before they give you access to anything. The developers behind this software can kiss my ass. Dont buy this **** software.
