Widely used in high schools, including my alma mater, iMovie 4.0 has some pretty nice plug-ins that, for its technology, aren't too shabby. iMovie makes editing videos for newcomers fun and easy. The learning curve isn't high, so editors can easily find ways to improve their skills and quality of their finished product.
Cons
It's a consumer level product, and doesn't even compare with more powerful programs, including Final Cut and Adobe Premiere Pro.

The quality is wonderful and it is so incredibly easy to use. Uploading is easy, whether it be video or pictures. The effects are very original and very cool.
Cons
It does not come in a Window's version, which would be a big plus if it did. There are no real ways to make a variety of changes on a slideshow of the pictures. The only option is the Ken Burns effect, which only zooms in and out on the picture, but overall, it does not impare the style or end result.
