Publisher's Description
From Activata:
If you are in the middle of using an application and the system becomes unresponsive for several seconds it could be the memory manager working and claiming back some of the Inactive memory for your application to use, if you wish to avoid this then iFreeMem may be for you. Some scenarios where iFreeMem can be useful: you have been busy on your laptop preparing for a presentation meeting and you would rather not have the system become unresponsive in the middle of your demo, might be worth running iFreeMem shortly before the meeting; you are a musician or DJ, about to do a live performance or session using your Mac, you want to ensure everything will run smoothly and on cue.
With version 2.0, iFreeMem now supports Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
What's new in this version: Snow Leopard Support.

"This is what we need, advance it, please!"
Version: iFreeMem 3.5
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Memory management is the one area that I am incontend with on OSX. It is the one reason why I need to reboot my system after some days. iFreeMem addresses this problem. It is not the ideal solution I hope to have in the future, but it's the best I could find to date and it is a good start.
Thank you for the software, I hope you will develop it further!
What I would want to have:
- a continuous mode that keeps the mem clean at all times (as in RamsaverPro on Windows)
- a clever ram optimization routine that decides what to throw out of ram and into VM, or vice versa (as in RamsaverPro on Windows)
- deletion of unused VM files and resetting the next VM file size accordingly
- more user control and transparency as to what is freed and why

"No problems"
Version: iFreeMem 3.5
Summary

Works fine for me under 10.6. Clears inactive memory by brute force, which may or may not be useful for you, as problems caused by inactive memory is rare, but can happen. -
"iFreeMem 3.5 not working under 10.6"
Version: iFreeMem 3.5
Summary

I used iFreeMem for many years successfully but 3.5 is also not working for me under 10.6. Snow Leo. Pity! -
"almost useless"
Version: iFreeMem 3.5
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I could only get this app to run once per bootup. Couldn't tell any difference in speed after it ran. Now, if it zapped the VM swap file, maybe it would be worth the $8. Also, I couldn't get the touted additional features to work. I didn't purchase after the trial expired. I have a dual-1GHz PPC dual-mirror-door Mac, 2GB RAM, OS 10.5.8. -
"Simple, fast & a life-saver"
Version: iFreeMem 2.0
Pros
Everyone has experienced a time when software doesn't respond at a crucial point and the only option left is to use "force quit." By using iFreeMem regularly, I've had fewer instances with software grabbing so much memory that nothing will work. It's simple, fast and it's proving to be a real life-saver, preventing me from re-doing a lot of projects that stalled before finished.
