"The user experience is better as iTunes."
Version: iDevice Manager 1.2
Pros
The new version is great. The creating of ringtones is easily and the download of music, videos, photos, emails and sms also.
Cons
No upload of photos.
-
"Newer is not always BETTER!"
Version: iDevice Manager 1.0
Pros
I guess if you just want to manage photos, which you can do anyway with this. Or Create Ringones, which there are free apps for anyway. Or use as a Flash Drive, then whatever.
Cons
The older version of this program would allow you to access even more areas of your iphone. Is it just me or are all the Apps missing from the explorer part of this Iexploer. With the old version you could modify your apps (games more specificly) by changing the SQLITE files (with the help of an extra program). So to me this is garbage.
Summary
You get what you pay for, and this is free so, whatever.

"Would Not Run on My PC"
Version: iDevice Manager 0.9.26
Pros
Never got the chance to assess it.
Cons
Upon opening, it reported "encountered error". Would not debug. Only option was close program.
Summary
I am running Win 7 x64. Perhaps that was an issue? Wish it would have worked. Ridiculous what you have to go thru just to be able to browse your Iphone files. Itunes is so mysterious as to what you are doing its stupid. Export? Import? referencing what? PC? phone? The app should be simple AND FREE. After paying what is charged for the device, service, accessories etc. - enough is enough!

"So good so far"
Version: iDevice Manager 0.9.25
Pros
Allows access to all files and root directory/folders.
Cons
As above reviewer states, this is a powerful tool and, there are warnings within the software about making changes without backup or knowledge of where it may lead and possible damage it may cause.
Summary
I needed to circumvent Itunes for copying audio files. Namely, I wanted full access to my voice memo's without having to preview them thru or plug them into Itunes. I also need to edit the voice memos and be playable in a standalone audio editor.
There were a few other programs I had found that could handle this with user friendliness but they were shareware, - free trial to paid with limited use.
I've so far only taken voice memo audio off the Ipod drive as downloads. Uploads, I cannot comment about.
The GUI is pretty intuitive, but, I had to transfer files by clicking on them one at a time. even though, by holding shift I could transfer them in groups, and the transfer was very quick, it would be great to have a 'select all; feature. If there is one there, I didn't find it in the first 5 minutes of use. -
"Great Little Program"
Version: iDevice Manager 0.9.25
Pros
Allows full access to device
Able to edit/delete/export/import just about anythingCons
Can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing
Summary
This is not the program to learn the way the iPhone works - you may have to restore if you delete the wrong thing. I used it principally to move ringtones (my custom ones) from one iPhone to another - I own both phones. The Download worked great, but the Upload tried to rename my files. So I just copied directly from my PC into the Library/Ringtones folder rather than upload on their Ringtones tab.so it does not rename my files. Again please educate yourself before using. Works as advertised, and great free program.

-
"Installation Fails on Windows 7"
Version: iDevice Manager 0.9.21.1
Pros
None -- See above
Cons

"Works as Advertised"
Version: iDevice Manager 0.9.19.1
Pros
Good for clean-up of Photos, but could have more features (see cons).
Cons
Photo list is OK, but the following feature requests would make this a great App:
1. Thumbnail view to browse all photos
2. MOVE to computer & DELETE from phone.
3. RENAME on MOVE -- save with a relevant file name
4. don't jump to top after delete.Summary
OK & useful App.
