Chat with other online users in a full-screen personal video conference environment over any broadband connection. iChat AV uses patented anamorphic resizing techniques so that the video of the person you're chatting with fills the entire screen without distortion. iChat AV also lets you size your video window to whatever size suits your style- from the large default of 352x288 pixels to full-screen mode. You can even resize a window during the middle of a conference. iChat AV v2.1 adds support for video conferencing with the AOL Instant Messenger 5.5 for Microsoft Windows
When you install iChat AV, the software automatically configures and optimizes itself for your setup. There is no hassle over network setup or peripherals. While iChat AV works best with iSight, you can use any FireWire DV camera or Webcam for video chat.
I've been using iChat AV since its first release with no problems. Today instead of starting up, I got a box for what appeared to be an update for multiple window video chat. Now all I can get is another box that says I don't have a 'null' account.
So, I download iChat AV 2.1 above which it says "Mac OS X v10.3 or later" and when I try to install it on my PPC OSX 10.4.11 machine is says it can not install on my machine because it is for "10.3 ONLY".
I have also tried the iChat AV updates from the Apple website but these failed with the message "can't install -- too many processes". Shutting down iChat solved this but the updates still will not install. My iChat AV no longer works and I haven't yet found a way to reinstall the entire program to get it back.
