Pros
It has great built in filter to block flash ads. Its panoramic tab view, and favorite, most visited view is amazing and lovely. It uses same webkit version which Safari uses, so it's very fast. Every penny worth purchasing it.
Cons
It's not so frequently updated. It consumes too much space on top.
Summary
A fast, full featured browser.

The verdict is in on browsers for the Mac; this is it; plain, simple, and period!
Bcause of the HTML5 discussion, iCab comes in at 208+6, with a perfect scoe being 300; yes Safari comes in at 214+6, but additional add ons are required.iCab does everything right, no hogging the system, no heavy RAM usage, no spinning ball, passes the acid 3 test, renders ALL pages corectly, do I need to continue? All the reviews are dead on the money, and the developer comes through with everything needed to make this browser the king. I perhaps am one of a few who used this browser in OS 9 days; I am happy that I paid the developer for a truthfully wonderful product, which cannot be equalled!
The HTML5 score is impotant, as to how much the browser recognizes HTML5 format!

...That about a year ago, I had no idea iCab still existed, and now, it's my favorite browser for the mac? If you would have told me that two years ago, I would have laughed in your face.
Anyway, out of all the mac browsers, it's the fastest, lightest on resources, has the highest amount of customization, renders everything you throw at it, has great filtering, and beachballs ot crashes very little even with dealing with flash (a major feat for a mac browser, no need for flashblock anymore).
I only have to go back to camino for one site that won't accept iCab's login info (and it's a minor, message board. Not like a bank, or anything).
And, I hear it's mobile version is the best available, as well. Although, I can't speak from experience, as an iPhone's a little out of my tax bracket.
So yeah, grumble, grumble, it costs. I paid, and I'm quite happy. I can't afford a $300 cell phone, but I can afford a $25 browser that works wonderfully. One is frivolous and expensive. One is essential, and all things considered, a steal.

iCab had languished for quite a while some time back. But, when it came back, it had really improved. I still use Safari ore often just die to convenience, but iCab is an excellent browser, too.

I have been using iCab on and off since OS 8 days, and I'm pleased to commend the developer for continuing to support OS 8.5 & 9 as I have a few clients that still! use those systems. Internet Explorer and Netscape are not nearly as capable as iCab on those systems.
Although I mostly use Safari in OS 10, I keep most of the dozen or so different browsers on my systems for testing purposes, and iCab performs with the best of them. Great preference set, and very compact footprint. Firefox takes forever to boot up, while iCab launches faster than Safari.
One suggestion though: give us a color choice on the toolbar buttons. The yellow is a bit garish. Maybe a blue, teal, and purple choice would be nice. Something a bit more soothing. And I kind of miss the tacky little yellow cab progress indicator with it's cloud of exhaust.

Neither iCab or Safari is free and both are excellent.
I prefer iCab because it has many features that Safari lacks.

iCab used to be my favouite back in the OS 8 and OS 9 days and I've returned to it after a few years away on the dark side, and then the last 5 years bouncing between Camino, Firefox, and Safari, and dabbling with Opera. I've been using it exclusively for the past two months and have to say I'm very impressed.
If you don't want or need the extendable multi-developer bloatware that results from plugging everything in to Firefox, but prefer a very fast WebKit based browsing experience with low RAM and CPU footprint, that comes from the efficiency of a purpose-built Mac only browser, and which still includes advanced features - download manager, secure forms manager, filter manager, YouTube downlaods, session saving and recording, website archives, web app creation, kiosk mode, etc. - at no extra cost, then do yourself a favour and give iCab a try. You won't be disapointed ... and then you can go and get iCab Mobile for your iPhone/iPod touch too and have the consistency that brings.
iCab is a very standards focused app that plays extremely well with the Mac environment. Developement of the app seems efficient with regular updates, and support is very responsive and helpful - just like the app itself.
At $20, iCab is a steal, but will run for free without limitations as nag-ware. I could not recommend iCab, and iCab Mobile, more highly.

I remember rocking iCab back on OS 8.5, where it's major selling point was that it was the browser that fit on a floppy (remember floppies?), who would have thought that ten years later, with all the various Mozillas, Safaris, Caminos, IEs, Firefoxs, etc. it would still be in development? And, not only that but...
Weird Thing #2: I really like it
It's got a great interface, stacks of options, doesn't hog resources, and it's really, really, really fast.
Sure they want $25, but c'mon, they've kept this thing updated and running through all of Apple's crazy ups and downs over the past decade, that has to be worth something. And, I'm not just giving points for tenacity, it's really a great and quick browser.
If you're like me (and the rest of the world) who's forgotten about iCab's existence, give it another look. You'll be really (and weirdly) surprised..
