  The software seem like it has the ability to become a very good tool. However, it lacks the ability to give a well documented step by step instruction on how to import a table and post it to the internet. the quck start that is available on their website, stop at the import of a table. then it left you to figure out how to format or submit the site to a hosting company.

  The feature set offers rapid, multi-platform deployment of databases ranging from the simple to the complex. E-commerce and other functions are promised to create your own database quickly for Linux or Windows environments. Many promises.

  Cons

  This software does not deliver. I could not make even a single table database deploy to either Windows or Linux servers reliably (we have both.) Support consisted of a sparse forum, vacant support desk and virtually no documentation.

  Summary

  This is a promising tool bedeviled by the same critical errors that haunt many small (and most large) software companies. In the rush to create better products, attention to detail and documentation isn't given. Customers buy in good faith, but poor support and incomplete documentation make potentially good products unusable. I work in an environment perfect for dbQwik Site. I need small databases on a regular basis, so the promises the website made seemed very attractive to me. Unfortunately, the software is clunky and nothing worked for me as promised. Perhaps there are many others who are satisfied, the owner (Gerald Enright) said in a last-ditch support session that there are "thousands" of satisfied users. If I could not get one minor table to deploy properly and show the data I entered, then the product is unreliable and untrustworthy. To their credit, they did not remove my complaints from their open forum - but not one of the company's techs attempted to email me and open communication to solve the problem. When I attempted to contact their promised live support, nobody was there until today when the company's owner was manning the support desk. I want to do business with small companies that often create brilliant products to compete with the "big boys", but many attempts to make this software work - even moderately - all failed. If I owned the company, I would have seen a target customer as an opportunity and tried to make it work. Mr. Enright did not. He did promise to live up to the company's refund policy, but not once did he say "hey, let's try to fix this" and offer any type of support from his staff. I want to get in the trenches with a small vendor and help them succeed, and I love to write positive reviews when a vendor solves a problem and I can, in return, heap praise on their products. Mr. Enright was very nice to me, and seemed to understand my problem. He did not offer help, and I was tired of asking. He said documentation for this product was "easier said than done" and it frustrated me that he didn't make any attempt to salvage a customer. Perhaps my gripes on his forum made him wary of even wanting to deal with me, and that would be understandable. I was furious, because I'd sent a minor amount of money to Thailand and didn't know if I would get it back. dbQwikSite, to me, is an incomplete product. It borders on vaporware, except that there is a product - but none of its features worked for me reliably at all. I highly recommend that you not torture yourself with this junkware, in its current state, but watch this company in case it someday gets its act together. Mr. Enright does seem determined, but his inability or indifference to the individual customer - and total disrespect for the virtue of documentation - may be critical flaws that hobble his ability to create the world's best database generation program. Mr. Enright is an honorable man, in my opinion. He needs to refocus his attention on documentation, function and customer service. Oh, how I wish this product would have done what it claimed.

• DBQwikSite - Go from Web Designer to Database Programmer

  Pros

  I have been using the software for about 7 days and built a database driven with a custom php script designed using the software. I can say that it is easy for anyone to build a basic php script and database. It generates all of the code needed for it to function correctly. The average web designer should have no problem using the software. If, you are familiar with frontpage or dreamweaver then DBQwiksite should be no problem.

  Cons

  It does not produce search engine friendly urls right now, but I have successfully integrated mod rewrites with in the program its self. I have basic knowledge of php. Just enough to edit a script...
