Yahoo! Mail is free and comes with a great Address Book and Calendar. You can also use it with your mobile and Yahoo! Messenger. Or you can get Yahoo! Mail+ with 2GB storage and no graphical ads.
Very BAD INTERFACE:
1. Obligatory new very very bad themes where it is very difficult to read on the screen (dark text on dark background)
2. Autoscroll doesn't work in the Folders section - very unpleasant by long list of folders
3. Cannot open a lot of PDF files (the same files are opened with Gmail without any problem!)
4. The attachment is on the bottom of the screen and difficult to find by long emails.
5. HTML messages are cut in their width by the interface because of lacking width of the message window due to the adds
6. Some scripts which bring a old computer of me to crash and the Basic version doesn't have Spell Check
Summary
Yahoo Mail WAS the best Email, now it is more than annoying to fight with the interface!
YAHOO MAIL REVIEW: IT IS HORRIBLE
JimSocal
Pros
It's FREE.
Cons
1) They harass you for your mobile phone # every time you try to log in
2) They HARASS YOU every time you try to log in, to force you to give them your mobile phone# (no doubt so they can sell it to marketers)
3) They try to FORCE YOU TO GIVE THEM YOUR PHONE # EVERY TIME YOU LOG IN
4) They constantly throw good mail into the Spam box even when you've been getting mail from that address for years
5) ADS, ADS, and more ADS!
6) NO TECH SUPPORT WHATSOEVER
7) Filters you set up don't work
8) Every time they update it, which is about every 3-6 months your mail will stop working right until the Browsers catch up to their stupid "improvements" which are never really improvements but rather, just changes that cause YOU to have problems reading and sending mail
9) They ask for your phone number CONSTANTLY
10)They won't stop asking for your phone #
Summary
YAHOO MAIL REVIEW
YAHOO MAIL IS TERRIBLE
YAHOO MAIL DEMANDS YOUR PHONE NUMBER
YAHOO MAIL HARASSES YOU FOR A PHONE #
YAHOO MAIL IS THE WORST
YAHOO MAIL BREAKS OR HAS PROBLEMS EVERY TIME THEY UPDATE IT - WHICH IS ABOUT EVERY FEW MONTHS
Yahoo Mail is the worst free mail service because they demand you give them your mobile phone number every time you log in. There is no OPT OUT!
If you don't have a mobile phone# or refuse to give it to them you will have to click through 2 splash screens each time you try to log in as they try to get you to change your password and then to give them your phone number. Yahoo started DEMANDING a phone # a few months ago, and since I refuse to give it to them, they HARASS ME every time I try to log in, forcing me to click through a squeeze page asking me for it, before I get to see my mail.
While this only takes an extra few seconds, IT IS ANNOYING AS HELL!!!
It is so bad I am taking my precious time to write this review to warn everyone about it.
BOTTOM LINE: NEVER USE YAHOO MAIL. IT IS HORRIBLE!
Appallingly bad. No stars if possible.

Summary
I have finally reached the end of my tether with Yahoo Mail.
When I go to log in, the first thing I usually see is a screen advising me to change my browser. I'm sorry if you don't like Opera, Yahoo, but I'm happy with it and I'm not changing just to please you. Fortunately this screen is replaced by the login page without me having to do anything.
As you type your username and password, the brightly coloured message on the left suddenly changes like a quick flash, I'm sure it is deliberately done to attract your attention.
I always untick "Keep me signed in". There is no option to keep it unticked. To me there is something sinister about Yahoo keeping me signed in. I am neurotic about this. Maybe they are tracking my browsing or something at the same time, I don't know.
Next a window opens, "Help us to keep your account safe", where you must click on "Continue".
"Change your password" window opens. No, I'm sticking with the complex one I've got. Click on "Skip for now".
"Add you mobile number" window opens. I'm not giving you my mobile number! Click on "Skip for now".
My inbox appears at last, but frustratingly it is frozen until the "Personalize your inbox with a theme" window has appeared. Click on "Not now", and at long last I can deal with my mail.
All this, just to read or send email, what a performance. But not any more. I've created an account with Outlook where my inbox opens straight after login, and I've set Yahoo to forward everything to Outlook. Once everyone has got used to my new address I will sever the tie with Yahoo. Good riddance to them!<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jul 21, 2014<p/>Update: I wrote in my review, "I've set Yahoo to forward everything to Outlook", and that is precisely what Yahoo is doing, it is fowarding EVERYTHING, including each new spam message that arrives in the Yahoo spam folder. That's another reason not to like the p.o.s. that is Yahoo Mail.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jul 25, 2014<p/>For Outlook read Outlook.com

Pros
At least it's still in English.
Cons
Everything. Poor format, all emails in string now are in the same email, weak font, unclear identification between read and unread emails, etc.
Summary
Give us the option to revert to a usable, user-friendly format or I'm gone and this has been my only personal email from the beginning. Y'all struck out on this update. You have 1 week!
Utterly infuriating - I'm outta here

Pros
All sadly gone
Cons
I find the new set up completely frustrating. It used to be simple and highly functional, it now drives me insane. Even trying to reply to messages has become something of a guessing game because if the message is embedded in one of the new chains they have created, I cannot be sure I am actually responding to the person I intend.
Summary
I have stuck with it for a few months hoping I'd adapt, but this morning I have become so completely hacked off with it that I am definitely moving my address and email contacts to my ISP domain. Yahoo mail has me swearing at the screen in frustration.
After 15 years of good use, this new yahoo email is just a waste of time. Why take such a functional product and utterly ruin it? Yahoo mail is now pants. Rubbish.
Almost impossible to use with any trust.

To many ads
Hangs and leaves header behind on deleted e-mails

NO STARS!!! A Once Great Service Is Now Dead!
sounddude51
Pros
There are no pros with Yahoo anymore!
Cons
Everything!
Yahoo is quickly being killed by their management. Their web hosting is the worst online. Their once great email client is gone!
Summary
Don't even consider using anything associated with the name Yahoo! As the many other reviews here have said, they are history.
They were my first email address in 1997. I have used them since, along with server based email, Gmail and AOL. No more.
Every time Thunderbird tries to check my Yahoo mail account, it chokes. In going to Yahoo, the reason it chokes is because now I'm required to enter a Captcha, every single time to check my mail. This just happened in January 2014 after 15 years of use!
I will be saving all of my email to my computer and then discontinuing all Yahoo activity. As another reviewer mentioned, I suspect that Yahoo is after money. If you spend money of their Premium email service, I just bet you don't have to enter in the Captchas.
Bye bye Yahoo! You were the best at one time. Now you are the worst...and are history!
Yahoo is not for Professionals
threeactformula
Pros
It is average when it works.
Cons
It never works, too many ads that slow down your browser, the biggest con is now I have to change everything I ever did with Yahoo to Google (Gmail) because I can no longer take the amateur/ unreliable performance of Yahoo. Yahoo should just become a useless web story blog filled with useless ads & popups.
Summary
I want to give it a half star

Pros
all my old emails are on it using for last 5 years
Cons
all my old emails are on it using for last 5 years, and now I'll have to move them if I want to save them
