  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Thank you for this. I've been missing it dearly since Snow Leopard as I've missed all your wonderful products. After such a long wait for these updates, I have to also thank you for weening me off of your products. I'm disappointed that there are no updates for the 2.x version to allow your paying customers the ability to continue using their purchases. Instead we are forced to upgrade to this version. Takes away from the value of your product as a long term investment. What is to happen when OS 10.7 comes out? Will I have to pay again? After a six month delay? So as it stands, I'm only paying to upgrade only Xounds for now. The other wonderful products, like Windowshade X, I'll have to live without..... Not so hard since I've been without them for so long I've forgotten that I really needed them in the first place. With half of my family out of work some luxuries you just have to give up. Thanks again.

I have been using Xounds from the start up until now (OS 10.4.7) with never a problem greater than a version having a harmless glitch - how do those so certain that Xounds or APE causes disasters explain that? I once needed advice from Unsanity and their response was immediate, helpful and courteous. <br><br>I note that whenever someone has 'cured' a problem by removing Xounds or APE they have always done other things at the same time - brilliant logic! But that's human nature - once someone becomes certain of their own rightness they remain... right, no matter what flies in the face of their 'certainty'. The bombast is usually a means of demonstrating their rightness - to themselves, not to me. Good, 'sound' (!!) logic gets through to me; illogical pontificating just bores me - and often hides a feeling of inferiority and an inability to use logical thought and processes. 'Sounding' right doesn't equate with being right.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />When this program crashes your system and forces you to troubleshoot for a week and call Apple, you will try three things: (1) Delete everything on your harddrive by [unsanity]; (2) Abandon your user space; (3) Reinstall OS X. Now read the hyserical and verbally abusive comments from [unsanity]. Would you install OS software from him? Since the last commenter neglected to give a rating for this, I will.

There ought to be better customer support than calling paying customer names and recommending psychological help after this program caused so much damage.

My system is still tweaked even after two full restores. It was a good idea and some past version worked mostly alright. I see below that Unsanity is up to his usual tricks: writing software that will foul up your system and abusing anyone that dares criticize the damage he has done. Next will follow several five-star ratings from "independent" reviewers. Of all the software writers on VersionTracker, this is the only really bad one I have encountered. VersionTracker needs to discipline or remove Unsanity before one of the hundreds (thousands?) of angry customers sues.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Getting Sounds at the wrong times and clicks in places there should be no sound. (Yes I did a restart ) Examples: Clicking the desktop causes a close window sound to play. Making a selection rectangle on the desktop cause the close window sound to play. (I had to disable my close window sound to get these two to stop)) Clicking in a non active area of menu bar causes a menu close sound (Ditto here i had to turn off the close menu sound to fix this) and on and on... I had to turn off more than half my sounds so as not to get sounds in places there should be none. I would skip this version and wait for the MAJOR bug fix cause this is by far the worst version yet and i have loved this haxie and used it for years. First release to really disappoint me. :(

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This is an alpha version. Unsanity wants you to download this version so that you can tell them what's wrong with it. They do this with every major release: they remove the old version that worked, release a new alpha or beta version, and post raving reviews for themselves (typically, they say it's 'great to have sounds back'). Now customers might have figured it out before this release. However, Unsanity advertised that this was a minor revision of the previous version, not a major release of an alpha version that will partially disable the OS. Don't download it. This version does not work, and will shut off all Apple's UI sounds but Alert and Drag to Trash. Who knows what else it does. Uninstalling does not undo Xounds' damage. Take heart, though. Xounds is great when it works. Unsanity will eventually have a working version to download. Expect it before the end of the year. Or maybe not.
