CNET Editors' review
Originally known as Foxmarks, Xmarks takes the original, bookmark-synchronizing concept behind the plug-in and mashes it with a style of Web site discovery reminiscent that should feel familiar to users of StumbleUpon or Del.icio.us.
Xmarks maintains its utility in this major update, retaining focus on synchronizing your bookmarks so you can access them from any computer running Firefox. A simple start-up wizard guides you through the set up, after which it indexes your bookmarks. After installing Xmarks on a second computer, it gives a choice to merge or junk bookmarks from either rig. New to this version are an expanded set of Options for configuring how and when the add-on will synchronize, synchronizing passwords as well as bookmarks, and creating profiles to better manage disparate sets of bookmarks. Other tweaks include hosting your bookmarks and passwords on your own Web site instead of Xmarks', rudimentary encryption management, and determining syncing up or down.
The big news about the update to Xmarks are the site discovery features. It now installs an icon on the right of the URI bar, which you can click to reveal more info about the site you're on and other similar sites in your browsing history. It will also highlight the your Google results based on how many other Xmarks users have bookmarked them. While this may seem scattershot, Xmarks claims their users have marked more than 600 million Web sites--that's a lot of data to mine. If you don't trust Xmarks' data encryption, you can opt to not sync passwords, but there's little doubt that this is a bold attempt to bring Xmarks--finally--into Web 2.0.

Version: Xmarks for Firefox 3.5.11

"The best free bookmark organiser!"
Version: Xmarks for Firefox 3.4.5
Pros
FREE, very lightweight and it will save the day!
Cons
Nothing, a must have!
Summary
I use several machines and this cracking piece of software keeps all my bookmarks in sync! I use both the IE & Firefox versions, as I access the Internet via all the machines on my network I find manually keeping bookmarks updated is a chore. Simply create an account, choose what settings, install the software your done. Very easy and the best!
-
"Fantastic! Grab it now!"
Version: Xmarks for Firefox 3.3.3
Pros
Everything!
Cons
Nothing, runs like clockwork!
Summary
Just the best, I use this add-on on all 3 of my machines, does what it says on the tin! I like the way i can also log into any PC anywhere in the world and access my bookmarks. I installed this for IE as well, really class piece of software. We all know that Windows has "Live Sync" but I prefer this for application for bookmarking. Install it today you will never look back!

"Xmarks is a must have addon for every FF user"
Version: Xmarks for Firefox 3.0.0 beta
Pros
1.Bookmarks and passowords sync.
2.sync across different computers and different os.
3.tagging and suggested tagging.Cons
1.There is nothing i dont like about this addon, but i think if it had social bookmarking embedded in it too, then it would be gr8 (which btw can be expected from the later versions - acc to the foxmarks forums).
2.Doesn't prevent the duplication.Summary
I like these features:
1.Bookmarks sync goes behind the screen.
2.Tagging feature.
3.Suggested tags / trubo tags is really good and very helpful feature - i actually started using tags b'cos of this!
4.Password sync is available in firefox.
5.This is also available for IE, Safari and on windows, linux, and mac os. (the IE version works well)
6.It can automatically keep in sync bookmarks at multiple computers, and across multiple operating systems.
7.We can use our own server if we wish to
8.And the best part is - its free unlike the apple's mobile me !!
