Publisher's Description
From SIL International - NRSI:
XeTeX is a TeX-based typesetting tool for Mac OS X, making use of Unicode together with AAT and OpenType font technologies.
XeTeX is designed to provide a tool particularly suited to formatting long, structured documents, and supporting multilingual typesetting and complex non-Roman scripts. It merges the TeX typesetting system developed by Donald E. Knuth with the Unicode rendering capabilities of ATSUI and AAT fonts on Mac OS X, plus support for OpenType font layout features. This means that it can be used to typeset complex scripts just as readily as English, by simply specifying an appropriate AAT or OpenType font from among those installed in OS X; no complex font installation or configuration is needed.
What's new in this version:
- updated OpenType support, including additional languages/scripts
- support for vertical scripts such as Chinese and Mongolian
- accurate character measurements available to TeX macros
- numerous minor enhancements and bug-fixes; see the web site for details
