The bad: Windows Vista Ultimate does not put Search on the desktop (it's buried within applications, within the Start Menu); optimized only for the Microsoft Windows ecosystem (for example, RSS feeds from Internet Explorer 7 get preferential treatment); there's simply too much and not all of it is implemented properly; no new software yet written exclusively for Windows Vista; and there are too many editions of Windows Vista.
The bottom line: Windows Vista is essentially warmed-over Windows XP. If you're currently happy with Windows XP SP2, we see no compelling reason to upgrade. On the other hand, if you need a new computer right now, Windows Vista is stable enough for everyday use. Reviewed by: Robert Vamosi; Reviewed on: 1/23/07; Release date: 1/30/07

Version: Windows Vista Ultimate upgrade
"The best operating system in the planet!!!"
Pros: Since upgrading, I noticed an incredible new world of enhancements.
The clock, flip 3D, AERO Glass and it installed all my drivers. I love this operating system! Love it!
Cons: 30 day trial to enter the serial, or MS will lock out the operating system until you enter the serial #. But its worth every penny.

Version: Windows Vista Ultimate upgrade
Pros: New interface, interesting new features, The welcome center, DirectX 10 if you have a capable graphics card.
Cons: Installation was difficult. I got it on DVD in a shop, and I tried to upgrade my 32 bit XP pro SP2 to Vista ultimate 64-bit, and it crashed during installation nearing the end on the final step. I tried 3 times, with the same thing each time, this happened while performing a clean upgrade, on a 2 week old PC. Eventually I tried installing the 32-bit version with an in-place upgrade, and it worked without any problems. However on the new Windows boot manager, I now have 3 corrupt versions of vista that won't start, and the vista that does work. That's all I didnt like about it. Since it was installation and not use of the OS I don't mind. Sure installation is obviously important, but in the long run I will be using it and not installing it over and over again. So I didnt mind, I am very happy with it.

Version: Windows Vista Ultimate upgrade
"Great operating system overall"
Pros: Windows Vista Ultimate is a great OS despite of what everybody says, you just need to do a clean install that is it. My computer has faster Boot ups by 50%. It is far more stable than XP, the graphics are amazing, and all programs can just be run by configuring the programs properties. All those Vista haters need to upgrade their machines and learn how to work around Vista.
Cons: Defrags take around 30 min, which means 28 minutes more than it took me to defrag my computer on XP. I feel the computer just a bit slower than XP. You need at least 3GB to run Vista
