Compose and publish blog posts for Windows Live Spaces or a number of other platforms.

Windows Live Writer is a desktop application that makes it easier to compose compelling blog posts using Windows Live Spaces or your current blog service. It includes a WSYIWYG blog editor as well as tools for publishing photos, maps. An included SDK allows developers to extend the capabilities of Writer to publish additional content types. Windows Live Writer is a great client for Windows Live Spaces but also works with other weblogs including Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad, or WordPress.

Eaiser to write great looking blog posts. Can automatically watermark your pictures, add title and alt text and resize. Also easy to add hyperlinks and links to pictures

Would like more options with the watermark but that's failry minor.
Summary
I recommend this to anyone with a blog. I love it!

Fast, easy to use, powerful tool to create blog entries. Works with popular blog sites, i.e. Wordpress, Blogger, etc.

None that I could determine, other than platform specific to Windows.
Summary
Microsoft hits a solid hit with the free package of Live Writer. Having used packages on both the Mac and Windows world, this is as good as I've found. Fast, intuitive, simple, I don't see any reason to look further for a blogging package. It is one reason I currently prefer the Windows platform. I would rate it 5 stars, but I reserve that for truly breakthrough products. But for the price, and with the capabilities that it has, it is a great product. I would gladly pay for this product, as I have on the Mac platform, for products such as Mars edit. There are numerous Youtube videos on how to use the product, most people could likely figure it out on their own by playing with the menues.

Made ALL my browsers stop working and crash until I restarted them. On a Windows 7 machine. I removed it and all works fine again.
