This Web-based e-mail client is easy to use, but it doesn't offer much in storage space compared to competing sites. MSN Hotmail isn't a downloadable application; rather, a link takes you to MSN's site to register for a Hotmail account.
The Inbox interface is very intuitive to use, thanks to large, clearly marked buttons, although it is a little cluttered with the Flash advertisements that are typical of Web-based e-mail clients. The default font size is a bit small, but that and other settings are simple to change from the Options menu. The interface for composing a message is very clean and included no ads during our tests. When we set up an appointment or added a contact, however, the site responded sluggishly and we were unable to save those new listings. Otherwise, the program responded quickly when we performed other tasks.
The basic e-mail services are free, but competing sites such as Yahoo! and Gmail offer larger storage capacity and more readable font sizes. Regardless, if you're searching for a Web-based e-mail client that you can use anywhere, and storage size isn't an issue, Hotmail is worth trying out.

Large attachments.............not a lot else, except storage size.

Slowwwwwwww. Keeps saying "Can't connect to hotmail right now". Get "Loading.............." "Loading.............." "loading................" Fails to delete email from reading window occasionally- need to go back to folder view and delete. Won't keep default font type and size when composing: if you don't like Tahoma 10pt, then tough! Feedback to hotmail asks what version I'm running. I have no friggin' idea how to do that and neither does Microsoft!!
Summary
I was entranced early on and I'm sorry I was. It's too bad ther's no 'light' version for us 'non-power' users. About 75% of what's in hotmail I don't need/can't use.

slow,unhelpfull, no spellcheck (use brower spell check!) no fonts except basic & set default & the spam/junk control is none existing. Also got a nasty habit of putting the mail not by dated recieved but all jumbled up, nightmare if time limited

On my computer as the download it works great as a client. Nicely done. The internet interface even works on my Android phone.
Cons
Spell cheking is only in one language. Cannot figure out how to spell-check in another.
Summary
Security and safety are great. This is the big strength. Offcourse hotmail or live cannot determine what you do on your computer safety wise, but they do a great job with junk, spam and viruses. Just recenlly someone could not send me e-mails, they were returned to him "as the reult of a Windows LIve policy". It turns out that he is on a server whose IP address is used by a virus to open a backdoor on infected computers. I found that quite impressive. This happened to me before with another e-mail contact, similar policy notice, but this time for spam. I feel save using this client software or hotmail on-line. In both cases, the contacts were legitimate businesses, they were unpleasently surprised. Comes to show, choose your e-mail server well.

Fantastic interface. Very fast. Excellent folder control. Send and receive other email accounts through Hotmail. Excellent calendar and contacts that sync with Windows Live Mail desktop app or Outlook. Choice of @hotmail.com or @live.com address.

This is a great service that offer much more than the others in terms of a full featured mail, calendar, contacts, photos, online file storage, events, groups, etc. that also syncs with your laptop. Get access to all your stuff whether you are online or not, and whether you are using your own computer or someone else's.
