• Fantastic sector editor and file recovery program

  Pros

  I was delighted that WinHex was able to find my broken NTFS partition and recover all the files from it. It is also a very capable sector editor.

  Cons

  The trial version is somewhat limited; I had to purchase a license to rescue my files larger than 200KB - a bargin, all things considered. Perhaps I overlooked it, but it would have been great to find a feature that allowed a sector to be manually tagged as a partition table, and interpreted the contents, to save me from a lot of hex decoding by hand.

  Pros

  I had important business files saved on a DVD that was corrupt. This program allowed me to save these files after trying dozens of other recovery attempts! Great product!
