This free memory optimization utility certainly has a nicer memory graph than XP's Task Manager, but we noticed no long-term improvement using its key functions.

WinCleaner Memory Optimizer's interface is fairly straightforward, with graphs to display your computer's RAM and CPU usage in real-time, and buttons to implement optimization options. You can manually free memory by clicking the Optimize RAM button, which is supposed to release extra memory on the fly. That's the theory, but we noticed a mere spike in page file and CPU usage, then a return to the same free memory level. The Maximize RAM feature forces your PC to release memory where possible. Again, we found a large spike in CPU and Page File usage and received only a few KBs of added memory in return.

You can set WinCleaner Memory Optimizer to release memory at a user-specified time interval, or if the memory falls below a preset level. The releasing process didn't cause instability, but running programs became sluggish. Though our test machines found no improved performance from this freeware, it didn't cause any problems, either. It's possible your home system may benefit from the meager returns, and it won't cost you a penny to try it.

What’s new in version 5.2

Version 5.2 added support for memory optimization only during system idle time. This minimizes interuptions during normal computer use.

my computer was messed up from a virus. after cleaning the computer completely my 2GB ram meter which normally is about 38%, was stuck at about 70%!!! As soon as i tried this program it brought my RAM back down to 38% I'M IN LOVE!!!

It works to Clean from the Start Up, and then it does Automatic Cleaning when you want.. You can put it to Clean when YOU want, up to every 240 minutes. I have choosed every 30 minutes, because I have a so small RAM Memory on my XP...

I like its ability to free available memory consumed by TSR programs. It provides mem limit cut-offs and notification.

Not worth mentioning, the dialog box is proportional to the utilities presented on that page, so the overall box is reduced.

I recommend it and have used it on other systems in troubleshoting slow machines.
