Publisher's description of WinAutomation
From Softomotive:With WinAutomation you can easily automate any repetitive task. You can create jobs to automate file operations and FTP transfers, import/export data to Excel, send emails, connect to and query databases and much more, without having to write a single line of code. For the novice user, WinAutomation includes an intelligent Macro Recorder that allows you to record and replay mouse and keyboard actions at any speed.
For more complex scenarios, WinAutomation features plenty of built-in actions that you may combine to build your jobs, along with support for variables and arrays, conditional logic, loops and more. WinAutomation also includes an integrated debugger, a job scheduler and triggers that monitor your computer and execute jobs as needed. The Pro edition allows you to compile jobs into .Net exe files that you can run on different computers without having WinAutomation installed.
This 2.0 update adds a long list of new possible actions, exponentially increasing the number of possible macros you can create.

- Version reviewed: WinAutomation 2.0
The utility WinAutomation lets you create automatic system and file processes--or jobs--that can help you alleviate the pain of performing multiple menial tasks like renaming files, sending e-mails, and merging Excel files. The 30-day full-featured trial provides a generous opportunity for users to test-drive the app, create some sample jobs, and see whether WinAutomation can help with your common PC tasks.
WinAutomation includes decent in-program help, as well as additional support information on the publisher's Web site. Getting started will still be the biggest problem for new users, however, and the program could benefit with a more robust tutorial, especially one that includes sample jobs that users can edit and play with. Also, the program would benefit from tooltips or other integrated support that explicitly describe how each possible "action" works.
Once you get the feel of creating new jobs and defining parameters through the drag-and-drop interface of the job editor, it's easy to create basic processes, but there's still a steep learning curve before you'll be able to perform advanced automation tricks. One simple example of how WinAutomation can work--we created a job to track all of the file information about applicant resumes in a WinAutomation data table, then rename those files, and move them to a new folder. We were even able to display that file information in a pop-up window when the job runs.
All in all, WinAutomation is a powerful, well-organized application that advanced users who want to create their own PC macros will appreciate. The trial installed and uninstalled smoothly, with no artifacts left behind. As mentioned, the program requires a bit of a time investment to learn how to use it fully and could some more integrated help features, but those who stick it out will likely be pleased by the software's abilities.

"Effective workflow, easy-to-use interface, options, GREAT support"
Pros: I normally do not have time to write reviews on software, however I will do an exception as I experienced *excellent* support from the WinAutomation team and they really deserve to have their software known and rated objectively.
I examined most of their competitors and decided to use WinAutomation because of its its excellent examples that show how certain automation goals are created. When I faced a dilemma on which combination of options is better to use for my specific automation goal I send an email to the WinAutomation team. I have to say that I am impressed on how professionally they treated my request and that they responded back with 3 different combinations to achieve the same goal. Now that was impressive! (one of the combinations was already my own suggestion which I figured out pretty quickly anyway but was not sure if it was optimal).
I strongly recommend WinAutomation because it has the best combination: A well-thought interface/engine combined with a knowledgeable and helpful team.

"Seems to work well and is comprehensive in scope."
Pros: Has a very complete set of defined actions and the ability to record user activity as it occurs.
Cons: Does not always trigger as expected and has an annoying dialog that pops up after completion.
Summary: I was a previous user of QuicKeys for the Mac and this program compares favorably. I would recommend it.

"Very Good, Easy to Use Macro Program"
Pros: Very intuitive. Easy to use interface. (As far as I can tell) Full functionality with demo mode (except EXE creation - big deal).
Cons: None so far.
Summary: I've tried 5 macro programs over the past few weeks; I had remembered using QuicKeys 15 years ago on the Mac, and tried it again now (QK v. 3 for Windows), but it just didn't handle well (esp. Menu pull-downs). The other macro programs had poor to... read more >>
