If you can't or won't monitor Web sites with an RSS reader, Web Monitor makes a good alternative option. Like other HTML scrapers, it runs in the background and, at intervals, quietly downloads the Web pages you assign it. When it detects that a Web page has changed, it can launch an application, alert you with a sound, and even send an e-mail or an SMS. The interface is quite straightforward. Using the built-in browser, you surf to the desired Web page, select the parts you want to monitor, and then click a toolbar button to create the new task. The program can watch for the presence or absence of certain words, which is convenient if you're trying to keep up with your favorite assistant secretary of agriculture. It doesn't take much memory, either. Overall, Web Monitor is useful for anyone who needs to keep tabs on a stable of Web sites or who compulsively checks news pages that don't publish in RSS.

Web Monitor is a system for automatically monitoring web pages. It allows the user to check for changes on web pages periodically or according to a user defined schedule. Areas on a web page can be selected for monitoring according to various change criteria. When a change event occurs various notification actions can be enabled. Such actions include playing a sound file, sending an email or SMS message and even running another program.

Version 3.01 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, and bug fixes.
