CNET Editors' review
Before you roll your eyes at yet another addition to the overly saturated Web browser market, we recommend that you take the time to try out Visual Explorer. We liked it so much that we made it our default browser.
The interface is colorful without being too cartoonish, and for all of the options it comes with, it's surprisingly uncluttered. You'll recognize all of the navigational buttons and the menu toolbar if you've used any type of browser before. It features almost of all of the options that come with IE, but there were several features that stood out for us. The Tab Browser let us view all of our Web pages in one single page so that we could easily toggle back and forth between them. When activated, the Explorer Bar sat unobtrusively on the left side of our window. From there, we were able to access our Favorites, RSS feeds, source code of a given page, folders, and even a notepad. Parents will like the Content Filter that lets you add the sites you want to block. We had no problems browsing the Web, and pop-ups were kept at bay with the browser's pop-up blocker.
Visual Explorer offers an extensive, built-in Help menu. We loved all of the program's features, as well as the nice open window. Basically our only complaint is that it left a folder in our Program Files that had to be manually removed. However, if you're looking for a new browser, we have a feeling you'll look no further after giving this free one a try.
Publisher's Description
From BlueG:
Visual Explorer is the ultimate, full featured web browser that comes with advanced privacy and security features, one-click Google searches, support for Internet Explorer favorites, add-ons and much more. Visual Explorer is fully customizable from themes and skins to mouse gestures, keyboard shortcuts, toolbars and menus. Access your favorite video sites with a single click - the new Video View interface provides a purpose designed environment for watching videos from popular video sharing sites. The Remove Noise feature enables you to watch YouTube videos in a clean and clear interface, with the "background noise" turned off. Your privacy protected--easily remove private data such as web site addresses you have typed into the address bar or content from web pages you have visited. Use the Cloaking Device feature to make the browser semi-transparent so casual observers cannot snoop on your browsing activities. The integrated safety filter protects you against phishing websites. It performs checks before loading each web page and, unlike other browsers, also uniquely checks the final destination page (to protect you against the original website re-directing you to a phishing website). Block unwanted ads and other media - with a range of content filters, Visual Explorer gives you control over what you see. Easily block unwanted websites or website content from appearing (Flash adverts, pop-ups, harmful scripts and more). Perform Google searches with a single click--right-click any word or phrase on the current web page to search for it using Google or your favorite search engine. Additional pre-installed search sites include Yahoo, YouTube, Amazon, eBay and Facebook.
What's new in this version: In version 3.1, web pages now load considerably faster. Optimized the Compatibility View code.
