"Best Karaoke Hosting program available"

Pros

I have been using MTU's products since 2002 when I first discovered their Hoster program. Because I wasn't sure about switching to computer from discs, I continued to carry my triple-tray player and all my discs to every show for about six months, just in case anything went wrong with the program. I never once had an issue with the program and since then, all my original discs have been sitting comfortably on the shelves I've built for them in my office. Over the years, Hoster has grown and developed into a true workhorse. Each new release of Hoster has brought new innovations and better service for me and our shows. Just some of the features that are included with the program: The ability to print out really nice looking song books that reflect your actual inventory of songs; Preloaded key changes; On-the-fly Key changes; Singer's database; Background music between songs that plays automatically; It plays Videos and non-Karaoke audio tracks; Song Search, File indexing and more!

Cons

At first glance, the program can look intimidating to a new user, but the included user's manual makes short work of understanding everything. There is a learning curve, but with the manual, the forums on the MTU web site, or calling their customer service, there's no issue you can't resolve.

Summary

MTU has proven to me that they really care about the end user. I have made suggestions on their forums for features I'd like to see in their Hoster program and they not only listened, but they implemented them! Having been with them for so long, I can attest to their continued commitment to make Hoster the number one Karaoke hosting program on the market. AND, if you're still unsure about buying Hoster, buy the Hoster Lite version. It's much less expensive and it has almost all the great features of their full Hoster program. Once you've gotten used to using it, you'll not only want to upgrade to the full version, but you'll never use another hosting program.

"Great program and Great company!"

Pros

Loaded with features that are extra's with other companies. Constantly adding new features to improve the karaoke experience. Micro Technology listens to their customers ideas and request to improve the program.

Cons

None that I have found and I have been dealing with this company since 2003!

Summary

Micro Technology backs up their products. They offer free upgrades for year and sometimes extend this even longer. Great products and great people that run the company!

"Does what I need it to do for my karaoke show PLUS!!!!"

Pros

Many bells and whistles to improve any show. Stable, never had a crash like some other programs. Plays video files. Great search engine, singer & song history - I could go on!

Cons

It doesn't do dishes!

Summary

I've been using Hoster since 2007 back in the 3 releases and never had as much as a hiccup while running a show. I run 7 nights a week. I have tried (and do keep up with) the other hosting software on the market & always go back to Hoster, haven't found anything I prefer better.

"ROCK SOLID Karaoke Hosting Software"

Every feature you could want for your Karaoke experience, whether you are a Professional KJ or a hobbiest, here is the tried & true leader in the industry. Ripping karaoke music from CDG's or downloading MP3+G selections from the Internet has never been easier or done so accurately, as this software supports it and the quality has to be experienced to be appreciated . Company support listens to it's customers, and periodically adds new features to this outstanding software. Great for Singer rotations, Singer Database of previous performance and pitch & tempo adjustments are just a click away, and can be performed on the fly. Songbook Creator, Scrolling Marquee, Next Singer Listing, Background Audio Player for Jukebox style song play, and the best help forum of experienced KJ's and Singers from all over the world.

"Best Karaoke Software out there, Hands Down!"

Pros

This is the only all inclusive Karaoke Software that just works. Many of the other software out there, you must purchase all the different parts to create your books, import discs etc... but Video Hoster comes with this all included. This also is the easiest Karaoke Software to learn/use on the market, from what I have looked at. The company is one of the longest running companies in Karaoke, nothing like some of the fly by night companies on the web today. Features keep getting put in, and they are still in heavy developement all the time!

Cons

I have no complaints on the software in the last 8 years of my use.

Summary

I will always be an MTU customer!

"Easy to learn and use! Built in Song Book Creator!"

Pros

Hoster comes with an online manual that is easy to comprehend. Quick online technical support either through MTU's forum or Help ticket submission process. With Hoster having been around for so many years, there are numeous individuals that are knowledgeable about the application and can render fairly quick assistance through the forum when it comes to technical problems. No need for other software to play background music or videos between singers as it comes with a Background player or you can open a second instance of Hoster to handle the job. Insta buttons that allow for sound effects, music, or videos to be played immediately! Key change and Tempo change allows for adjusting the song to the singers voice. One of the newest features, parterning with All Star Karaoke, allows KJ's to purchase, download, and play songs from the internet. Singers Database maintains a list of songs a singer has performed and allows me to make a quick selection for them when they walk in the door!

Summary

Since I started using Video Hoster my Karaoke Show Rotation has gone from 7 - 9 songs per hour (using disks, waiting for it to load and find the track) to 15 - 17 songs per hour (just search the database and double click or drag & drop in the playlist) which gives my singers the ability to sing more songs during a show. That is more songs than most band perform in an hour! I no longer have to worry about scratching and ruining a CD or DVD as they are only handled once, to up load to my data base! Thanks MTU for a Great Product!

"Totally full of bugs - NEVER use it professionally"

Simplicity but that's about it.

Cons

Where do I start? Random crashes for no reason... Crashes if you have it on auto going from one video file to the next video file (CDG is OK in auto)... The latest version does not even play video files (audio comes out with no picture or words) Audio drop-outs - an old version I had used to have audio drop-outs but they fixed it in a new version (that I had to buy) however in the latest version which I also had to buy the audio problems are back and it drops by about 40% mid song on occasion... SERIOUSLY!

Support is non-existent and they make out that it is user error and here is the best bit ... you only get support while they fix THEIR bugs for 12 months. After that YOU have to pay for THEIR bug fixes! I've just given Hoster too many chances and am about to convert my whole show to a different program.

Summary

Professionally it makes me look bad. It is a running joke with my regulars about when the program will crash and literally on EVERY keystroke I stress that it will die. One or two of my regulars are typically precious 'wannabe pop stars' and so I do not touch the PC during their songs for fear that it will crash and I will have to deal with consequences of their bruised ego!!!

MTU - STOP extorting money from your users to fix problems YOU created. Bug fixes should not be charged for ever!
