...such as: which Text editors will Vicomsoft FTP Client support besides BBEdit? Should I read anything into the lack of updates of late? Or are there simply no real bugs to squash (rare, but possible I suppose)? FTP Client _is_ still being actively developed and supported - right?
Anyway, after trying FTP Client out I like it a lot. It's fast, stable and does exactly what I want with a minimum of fuss. If I can get answers to the above I'll be definitely considering it in my next round of shareware purchases.
Actually, that raises one negative point - FTP Client isn't really shareware, more demo crippleware (not that the developer tries to pass it off any different, mind you):-( I'd be more inclined to pay for FTP Client instead of, say, the new Transmit (which is also very nice) if I had had more than seven days unlimited testing. The sweet spot IMHO is more like 30 days - 14 at the minimum. Seven is _way_ to short - so brief it annoys me, and puts me off the product. Frankly I'm highly inclined to buy proper shareware rather than severely time limited demo software. Just my opinion, though. -

This is without question one of the best OS X products around. The functionality is comprehensive, the performance extremely solid. My only wish is to return to the window format of the OS 9 version, where the control icons were not fancy (a simple arrow), simply informative and well-placed. The column view is not useful, and the radiator icon for switching in the upper left corner of the window is confusing, distracting and poorly placed. -
"Best OS X FTP client (imho)"

This app saved me many hours and (almost) never let me down. It's the fastest FTP client for OS X I've seen, and I've tried many of them. Especially when it comes to folders with 20'000 files (typo3 sucks :), this tool shows its advantages. Its fast, doesn't require much cpu power, handles threats fine and the interface is great. Also, the developers are really nice guys. Thanks, Vicomsoft!
btw: I only registered at VT to tell you how great this one is. :) -

This utility need's a touch of improvement to be hands down FTP Client software champion! I did like version OS 9. Still monitoring OS X version before spending money! -
"This sucks..."

Well, it stated 7 day trial period, which would have been perfect, BUT... after giving my email address to get the application, and then installing it, I got exactly 33 minutes of trial time before it quit on me and notified me that my 7 day trial period was over. So basically I signed up to be solicited by these monkeys for a quick spin-around and dump!
Really like Vicom FTP client for these reasons:
1: Sort by date - nice
2: Queued transfers - nice
3: INDIVIDUAL PREFS per bookmark - nice!
4: Openable folder structure in the FTP window - nice.
5: GUI and interface - nice (though the app. icon is HORRID)
No like it because:
1: It's considerably slower than Transmit
2: Can't set the PASSIVE or NON PASSIVE mode preference PER individual bookmark. I have not seen an FTP application to date that allows that. Makes it a REAL pain when trying to log into 2 FTP servers at one time.
3: Wish you can do FTP to FTP direct transfers like you can in Fetch.
I'll wait for these items to appear in Vicom FTP before I buy it, already spent enough money on FTP apps only to be disappointed too many times. Plus I think $35 is a lot for the FEW added features that you get outside of the already existing design/ftp applications. For MOST people, they don't NEED these features. Who knows, maybe I haven't work-shopped the entire thing yet...
