While this start-up manager offers plenty of features to impress, a less-than-perfect interface and lack of guidance on potential malware keeps it off our top list. Ultimate Startup Manager goes beyond simply listing programs that automatically launch with Windows. It allows you to create several profiles so you can then select which start-up you want through a special menu. For example, if you're looking for a quick, clean launch, you simply select the "Clean System" profile. We were impressed by the program's ability to notify when new programs are added to the start-up list, a good way to keep an eye on malware. Yet while Ultimate Startup Manager detects new files, it doesn't give any hints to whether the software is good or bad. An option to launch without Windows Explorer we thought was an interesting extra feature. While the interface isn't the best designed, it doesn't significantly detract from the program's features. Overall, Ultimate Startup Manager is a good tool for people looking to kick-start a sluggish PC.Publisher's description

Version: Ultimate Startup Manager 1.1
"I was plesently surprised when I found out it works with "Vista".."
Pros: I visit a web site called "Best Vista downloads" often because "Vista" is the only operating system I use now and there I can find which software works with "Vista" and which ones work the best. I really wanted a good startup manager that worked with "Vista" and was pleasantly surprised when I found this application there with "The Best Vista Downloads" award given to it. I bought it a year and a half ago and loved how it handled my "XP" startup. I found my paid installer and installed it. Although it didn't make a difference in my computers startup speed it works good and gives me easy access and control over which programs start with my system. I'm surprised that the old reviews on it are gone because it's the same version that was available here a long time ago.
Cons: It doesn't make a difference in my systems startup speed. In fact, if anything, it's a tad slower. But I like the easy access and control it gives me so I find it a valuable application and am willing to wait 30 seconds or so longer to get my system up and fully running.

Version: Ultimate Startup Manager 1.1
"Sorta kinda almost works - ugly interface - questionable reliability"
Pros: It gives you a way to control your startup items unlike any other software I've seen since the old Mac SE days [1987]!
Cons: Lousy interface, obtuse, UGLY, English in software obviously written by someone who doesn't speak English as their native language... it would be funny if I hadn't already paid for a full copy... which, by the way, is NO BETTER than the free sample... can't somebody else develop this type of software that is sleeker and more reliable?

Version: Ultimate Startup Manager 1.1
Pros: My system is staring faster now. When I'm using CleanSystem profile I haven't noticed any system crash as I used to see frequently.
