This application helps you learn the fundamentals of ukulele playing, though we do have some quibbles here and there. Uke-4-U Starter's interface and design aren't likely to wow anyone, but the main menu is at least colorful and well organized. One section shows you the different parts of your instrument such as the nut, fretboard, and bridge, while another gets you up to speed on tuning. You'll also find a dictionary of 12 rudimentary chords, as well as the charts and changes for seven standard songs such as Tom Dooley. When you're ready to learn more, you can strum along with MIDI versions of a few other tunes, though only a handful are available in the demo. The trial version also disables the karaoke option. We would prefer some tools for customizing the application's behavior. For instance, Uke-4-U Starter periodically plays a rather irritating MIDI-based theme song; the ability to turn it off would be welcome. The lack of an uninstaller also is a major problem. But if you can live with those issues, this tutor will get you up and running with your ukulele.Publisher's description

Version: Uke-4-U Starter 1.0
"perfect if you just bought a uke"
Pros: shows you everything from the parts of your instrument and how to hold it to the names of the strings and the chords and the basic chord progressions. In the format the software came it, I found it convenient to use Gadwin Print Screen And Take a picture of each page, save it, and then go on to the next.
Cons: It didn't spend enough time teaching the mechanics of strumming, which can be quite tricky on uke, which is unlike guitar.
