From the developer: The USB Overdrive is a driver for Mac OS 9.x or later that handles any USB mouse, trackball, joystick and gamepad from any manufacturer and lets you configure them either globally or on a per-application basis. It reads all kinds of wheels, buttons, switches and controls and supports scrolling, keyboard emulation, launching and all the usual stuff like clicking, control-clicking and so forth. The USB Overdrive can easily handle several USB devices at once.
Version 1.4 enables mouse wheel scrolling in Classic applications under Mac OS X 10.2 and later. New features under Mac OS 9 include a 'Use Global Settings' command, support for the Logitech MX500 and MX700 8-button mice, support for the Microsoft Sidewinder Strategic Commander, support for GyroPoint devices, and more.

Pros
I use an old music software program on an old Mac running OS 9.1. I have always hated that I couldn't scroll with a scroll wheel but after installing USB overdrive (very simple, worked perfectly immediately) I can not only scroll up and down with a standard PC mouse scroll wheel but I can scroll SIDEWAYS! I'm in love. This changes my work flow completely and drops the aggravation factor immensely. Really, I'm thrilled. For 20 bucks? Sold!
Cons
I have only just started using the product and so have no cons to report. Maybe in the future but I doubt it. :)

Pros
If you still use MAC OS 9.2 you cannot benefit of the write button and weel of most standard mice. Logitech for exemple support only MAC X et does not offer any driver for OS 9.
USB Overdrive solve the problem whith his very simple interface. Easy to install, works perfectly (no software conflict). Great little software !

Summary
Updated to OS X a few weeks ago, used Word 98 as a Classic application and couldn't scroll anymore! My Logitech mouse driver didn't work in Classic. USB Overdrive changed that within seconds, now everything is fine again, thanks.

We recently added Kensington USB Scroll Mice as a new product line at our eBay Store.
Kensington claimed that the mouse works on Windows only. However, as Mac users, we needed a way to test the mouse ourselves in order to make recommendations to our customers. This program installed easily on both my OS 9 and OS X systems, and has many customizable features that can be tailored to specific applications and needs. You can program each button to do anything from a double-click to launching a URL.
It is very smooth in design and feel, and should satisfy both the casual and pro Mac user. We'll certainly be recommending it to all our Mac using customers...Bravo!
