TypeIt4Me is a text-expansion and autocorrection utility, an app that can save you tons of time (and wrist strain) by automatically expanding frequently used words, phrases, and even images with just a few quick keystrokes.
Users have several good apps to choose from in this category, and TypeIt4Me is one of the best and longest-lived (with a successful track record that stretches past two decades). As with similar apps, you just type in a few letters to access your "clippings"--or you can even choose an abbreviation from TypeIt4Me in the menubar. You can set abbreviations to work system-wide or just in specific applications, and an AutoCue feature lets you use clippings with variable data (for example, a commonly typed sentence but with an embedded number that you can change on the fly). TypeIt4Me also gives you a fairly reliable AutoCorrect (using your Mac's spell checker), and you can easily define corrections for your most frequent errors.
TypeIt4Me still lacks some capabilities we'd like to see (such as easier, integrated syncing among machines), but overall it has an extremely useful and flexible feature set and--important for a pervasive app like this--proven stability.

Available since 1989, TypeIt4Me is the original text expander for Mac OS. Anytime you enter text in your Mac by typing it at the keyboard, TypeIt4Me can help you do it faster and more accurately. First you define a number of abbreviations and the full text (or picture) clippings that they represent, then you watch the Mac expand them on the fly even as you continue typing.
What's new in this version:
- Fixed "missing file" where you should instead see "do not expand" or "expand using..." in the Applications tab of Preferences.
- Added the missing US flag when selecting AutoCorrect with US locale (the Union Jack was already there for British locale users).
- Fixed cursor positioning in snippets including date/time.
- Fixed bug when saving changes with filter on.

I've been using Typeit4me for many years. It has saved me many, many hours of drudgery. I use it to type long technical terms that I always misspell as well as entire paragraphs of frequently used boilerplate. It works in every application I use.

I really cannot think of any downside to this application.

Easy to use, fool proof, great time saver. What a perfect application. I use it numerous times every day to save hours of repetitious typing, and I'm a fast typist. I can't imagine not having it.

None, but if your bought this from the App store then that is where the updates must come from, not from the TypeIt4Me's web site.

I have used TypeIt4Me since well back in the OS 9 days. It is simply indispensable in my work as a newspaper sports photographer. Every team, and every position and sport, that I cover has TypeIt4Me shortcuts. Photo captioning on deadline is a breeze, as TypeIt4Me saves me hundreds of keystrokes.
