I have called TomTom tech support and they just told me that is just the way it is. Kind of disappointing that they won't make it Windows 7 compatible.

By using TomTom HOME I've accessed customer services to resolve access issues caused by instaling software onto a new notebook. The service was both speedy and simple and resolved my problem. Overall an excellent service.

Simple, easy to use interface. Easy to add features. Allows you to use the device on your computer screen.

The interface can be buggy. No cut-and-paste of information between the Tom Tom device. Map update process is slow and poorly implemented.
Summary
If you've got a TomTom, you need to use this software to get the most out of your device, especially in terms of updates and map changes. The software runs well and does handle the basic functions. You will find that updating your device on a weekly basis make finding your GPS satellites much faster.
What I find disappointing about it is that it has some rather basic bugs. It loses a number of preferences, including your favorite destinations on a map update unless you go out of your way to copy an esoteric file and place it back after the update. This just seems unconscionable for a consumer device. In the current version, you can't use capital letters in the title when adding a favorite destination. I really find it frustrating that I need to keep the device plugged in order to download a new map. This can take a very long time, and it shouldn't be required to wait around until the thing downloads, and then wait for the file to be copied across the USB connection.
I would also say that the major features lacking in the Home interface is that it doesn't really extend the device like it could. Importing destinations, uploading favorites, really manipulating the data on the device just isn't there. I would LOVE a feature where I give it few destinations and it picks the best route between them, and THEN places it as an itinerary. This kind of forward thinking just isn't part of the package.
