From Ubi Soft:

It's 2006, and the U.S. installs a temporary military base on East Timor to train the developing defense force of the "world's youngest democracy." Resistance to the military presence in Southeast Asia is widespread and passionate. Anti-U.S. resentment comes to a head under the leadership of guerrilla militia leader Suhadi Sadono, acting with the unofficial support of major corrupt factions of the Indonesian government. Suhadi's men attack and occupy the U.S. embassy in Jakarta, taking dozens of civilian and military personnel hostage.

Sam Fisher must defend and assist the U.S. military, both locally and from remote locations, until Suhadi's terror-driven policies can be subverted and the guerrilla faction eradicated. Jump into Sam Fisher's shoes once again and try out a stealthy single-player mission called Paris-to-Nice Train.

  • Version reviewed: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow single-player demo
The original Splinter Cell made a splash in the genre of stealth-based action games, but the single-player mode of the sequel appears to offer more of the same. That's not necessarily a bad thing. The PC version of the original was one of the best releases of the past few years, and a new single-player storyline, combined with the multiplayer mode, should make Pandora Tomorrow a powerful package. However, gamers looking for a revolutionary step forward might be disappointed.

Once again, you play Sam Fisher, an independent agent in a high-stakes game of espionage. As the demo begins, you are crouched atop a Paris-to-Nice TGV traveling several hundred miles per hour. You must locate and question an operative named Norman Soth, then make your escape via an Osprey helicopter at the back of the train. You cannot alert the men transporting Soth of your presence, nor are you allowed to kill anyone. A variety of vision-enhancing goggles and gadgets such as optic cables and laser microphones will help you see and hear what's going on. Since audio and visual details are so important to your success, it's nice to see the quality of details, such as constantly shifting shadows. Fans of the original will find everything they loved about the first game, and newcomers will get a great introduction to the genre.
