"KIck Ass Tactical Shooter!!"
Version: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield single-player demo
Pros
The Rainbow Six series is one of the best tactical shooter series out there. This addition to the series; Raven Shield is no exception. Raven Shield has some of the most detailed weapon models and animation i've ever seen, plus the game is infinitely replayable. To add to this there are a huge number of multiplayer maps and mods available absolutely free online.
The game truly gives a feel of authenticity, and as closely as possible tries to add realism into gameplay. For e.g. health cannot just be got back by gobbling up health packs. In Rainbow there are only 3 health states - healthy, wounded and dead. When wounded your character's speed and reflexes greatly decrease, as it would in any real combat situation.
This unforgiving health system defintely makes the game more difficult, but then you didn't expect the war on terrorism to be easy did you?
Cons
Good as this game is it does have several pain in the ass issues:
- Teammate AI is pathetic. Your team is more likey to get you killed by standing in your way during a critical moment, than they are to save your butt.
- Team commands are limited and you have to do most of the grunt work yourself, which usually leaves you dead.
- Some weird stuff happens when crawling on the ground especially on snow. You just tend to get stuck and can't move anywhere.
- Your team often gets lost without you, and even if you ask them to regroup they just roam around aimlessly.
Well anyway, bad points aside this game is truly extreme value for money. Go buy it ! I did...
