  There is no faster or easier way to complete a time sheet.

  Needs to be integrated with practice management software. Despite this the information is invaluable.

  Summary

  Your computer already tracks what you do. Why not have it give back the logs so that you can make use of it?

  Pros

  Seems like it does a lot for the person that needs detail in their time accounting.

  Cons

  I tried it for a day after going through the tutorial. I entered my first project, and every project the rest of the day included it. I had multiple entries for the same app though I only used the app once.

  Summary

  I uninstalled after trying to decode the report at the end of the day. Perhaps I didn't run it right, but it seems more complicated of a time logging program than I need. The program needs a simple mode where it just lists programs and documents and the time range they are held open. I'll keep looking.

  Pros

  Time Blocks - The automatic logging is what makes it work, but the time block interface is what makes it so good. It puts the most significant item at the top of the block so you can easily see where you time should be charged.

  Cons

  Its not 'in the cloud' so that will be a show stopper for some. However most people don't want to do their timesheet at the office, let alone from somewhere remote. You might have guessed that I'm not a member of the 'cloud computing cult'.

  Summary

  I've tried many of the automatic logging systems. The ones that seem to make the most noise on-line are RescueTime and Chrometa. Time-Aid betters them in three key ways: 1. T-A is local software with a one-time purchase. The others are on-line so you get a bill every month (which can really add up if you do the math), and I've always been nervous of letting a 3rd party hold my core business data. 2. Time-Aid is about getting a time sheet done. Its not full of little graphs and charts and reminders or co-worker comparisons. Its about a timesheet. 3. Time Blocks - It lets you see where your time went without all the 'noise'. The other programs simply list where your time went and its out of context. Plus you've either got Big Brother telling you where your time gets got to practically be a programmer to keep track of how the system is keeping track of you. T-A only shows you your key activities, and it puts it on an interface that looks like day planner so it simply makes sense. So, if you want an accurate time sheet that includes all your work, then Time-Aid is the way to go. If you want a bunch of productivity charts and fluff, and you want it all on-line and you want to pay someone every month for the privilege of accessing your own data, then look somewhere else. What can I say, I really like the Time-Aid experience much more than what I had with Chrometa and RescueTime.

  Pros

  The background logging and the drag and drop time blocks are what makes this work. The fact that the activity log is there when you want to do your timesheet is key.

  Cons

  I would like for it to integrate with MS Quickbooks. Currently we create a timesheet and accounting has to copy and paste the data. No different than with our previous system, but everyone hates re-entering data.

  Summary

  My team of 7 are all getting their timesheets done, and accurately (reality is a good thing). The drag and drop from the automatic log makes it a no brainer, and the submit automatically emails the completed timesheet to the accountant. It is simple, intuitive, and my staff actually use it.

  Pros

  Automatic logging with the time-block Drag and drop onto the timsheet is just the right way to do this. Blackberry data is unique. Simeple, real information. For a process that is so simple and common, this software nails it.

  Cons

  There is no direct connection to an accounting or project management system. There are some output formats, but it takes a bit of effort to import the data. A direct link would make life much easier. BlackTrack was a pain to set up, but it works.

  Summary

  Sorry to sound like a fan-boy, but this Time-Aid software, especially when combined with their BlackTrack software for BlackBerry, is one of those things that is worth talking about. I am a consultant, the hourly billable kind, and like most that I know in my field, timesheets and related admin are probably the most dreaded part of my business. Well I've used Time-Aid for almost a month and it really takes the pain out of timesheets and it actually finds billable hours. I know this is really boring stuff, its timesheets after all, but this is a software that ranks a being of equal importance to computerized accounting. Neither works without good data, nobody likes the fact that they have to use them if they are going to get paid, but that's life, and this is just a better way to get the job done. KEY POINTS There is NO learning curve, almost. The funny thing is that it takes a little while to figure out that you just let the system run. I kept looking for a timer or a data input screen, but there is none. Once you get past trying to do it the traditional way (take notes on what you are doing and the time and duration) then this thing is just perfect. The only time you actually see the software is when you are ready to do your timesheet. Open it up, drag and drop, press submit (it emails your timesheet to where ever you need it to go). The log captures and organized everything into time blocks (it looks like a day planner) so you can see what you did, and then you only have to drag and drop from what the log tells you. No researching your emails, phone log, recent document list and all that other stuff. I used the BlackTrack component too, and so it even knew my mobile calls and mobile emails. Tech support is great too. Email only. I used them twice regarding connecting BlackTrack, and the got back to me once within an hour, and the second time I got a reply in 5 hrs. IMPROVEMENTS Its not the prettiest interface, but lets face it, its a timesheet. That said, it is very simple and intuitive, its just a little ?spreadsheet?ish. Also, it would be great if there was some direct integration with accounting systems and the like. Currently I create the timesheet and just get my book keeper to re-enter the data into Simply. I?m sure there has got to be an easy way to just import it, but I haven?t taken the time, and the book keeper doesn?t complain. Anyway, it allowed me to capture 3 more hours in its first week. That'd buy the thing 5 times over in terms of billable hours. Its free to try, so anyone with billable hours, or anyone who just has to do a timesheet should take a look at this.
