I have almost been playing the Hunter daily for nearly 3 years. The graphics/sceneries' never stops surprising me. Spending a late afternoon up north in Red Feather Falls, seeing the sun go down makes you lower the gun and bring up the camera instead. But the most important thing is maybe that there is always a bigger trophy out there waiting for you. The game and hunt never ends. The game is always in a developing phase. New maps and features to look forward to. I must also mention TheHunter forums. A community where there are always friends ready to give you a helping hand if you are a newbie and you always feel welcome. The devs are

The game is poorly marketed. There must be many thousands of potential players around the world that are not aware if this fantastic game and that would, like me, love TheHunter

Beautiful graphics, and realistic animal and bird AI. Several maps to hunt with your choice of weapons. Great calls, tree stands, ground blinds, and tents. You can start in the maps where you have the tents setup besides the lodges.
After buying a membership. you have a choice of animals and birds to hunt. (Moose, Elk, whitetail, blacktail, and mule deer, coyotes, Turkey, and Pheasants.)

As a guest, you can hunt only muledeer in only map with limited weapons and other accessories to use. Buying membershop is well worth the money.

Try the game as a guest, then buy a membership and the fun begins.
There's continuing updates with new content including new maps, new animals/birds, new weapons and other accessories needed for your hunting enjoyment.

Very realistic. Amazing graphics! Great developer and other user support on the forums. There are many maps and species to hunt. Multiple weapon and gear choices. New things are being added constantly. Replay value is extremely high! There are competitions and missions. Large maps! The price is great! Free for non-members(lets you hunt one map and mule deer)! Players can buy a pack for $60 that gets you 1 year membership and many of the most popular pieces of equipment and weapons. After that it is only $45 a year! (less than $4 a month, i spend that much on energy drinks every day!)
Cons
Kind of hard at first. Very realistic. If you just walk or run around, you have a very little chance of harvesting a real trophy. (Just like real life!) Remember it is a hunting game!
Summary
There isn't a better hunting game out there! This is not a fast paced run and gun arcade game. There are no bullet cams or any other gimmicks. This is a true hunting game and it's getting better every day!

If you are willing to pay, you can expect very many good hunts out in the virtual wilderness of theHunter. This game is definitely one of the most realistic and best looking hunting games out right now. It is also still updated quite regularly with new environments, animals, weapons etc.

As a Guest, the game will probably not remain exciting for long.
Summary
I am a member of theHunter. I pay to play it. As a guest you get a good feel of the game and what it's all about, but in order to see this games full potential, you have to become a member. That is when the game truly comes alive. You will get to hunt many animals with many different weapons if you so choose. Rifle, shotgun, compound bow, and others. That is why I give this game such a high rating. Being a member is totally worth the money!

Very much worth the download. Think of it as a demo on steroids! Really a small game in it's self. If you enjoy this type of game it's a must try.

This is one of those games like War Rock that are free to download, but you must pay for better weapons and accessories constantly. The Hunter requires that you post a Pay Pal account before you can play. You must play on their server, and without a broadband service the play is very slow. You get a low powered weapon to start with very few rounds of ammo. To get a better weapon, yep you get to pay, and pay and pay again for scopes, ammo etc.
Summary
The Hunter is apparently not good enough to sell outright, so the publisher chooses the option of gouging everyone who plays. I wasted three hours downloading the blasted software only to find out later that this is a "pay us forever" kind of software. War Rock and other combat games are the same. It would be nice if CNET would tell us this before we waste hours of our time downloading the software. Wait for a deal on other stand alone software that you can play alone on your system. I refuse to become one of The Hunter's prey. Pass on this one.
