• Beyond the remote desktop control program

  TeamViewer is not only a remote desktop control program, it also has an excellent file transfer function like FTP, and it is very ease to use, it is much simpler than the FTP software.

  Cons

  On the portable version, it needs to choose if you are use it for commercial or personal.

  Summary

  For Example, I need to make a website, so buy a web server (VPS), so need to upload files from my office computer to the web server, at before I use FTP to upload files, but this way is very complicated, I need to install the FTP program on the web server, and do some complicated setup work, such set the login name and password, SSL encrypt and other parameters. and then have my office computer install FTP client and do the complex setup again. But now I find use TeamViewer can also do the same file transfer work, and the setup is very simple, you almost no need to do anything, just need to install TeamViewer on the web server and your own computer, no need to do any settings, TeamViewer program on the web server will automatically generate a unique ID and password, enter this ID and password on your computer's TeamViewer program, then the connection will build quickly, then a similar interface will appeared, it is like FTP program , then you can upload files, and the translation speed is very fast.

• I've been hacked twice using this software

  Pros

  none - hackers are getting your login id and password and controlling your computer

  Cons

  I've had my computer comprised twice in the last month. Only teamviewer knew my account and login id for my computer. One day I found someone on my computer. I sent the log file to teamviewer and they said that privacy regulations did not permit them to identify WHO was on my computer. They took a week to respond to my concern. I immediately changed my login id, my email account with teamview and my password. Since then there have been 4 more intrusions into my and my computer is not set up for auto connect.

  Summary

• great app, not available for free users

  Pros

  wonderful app, excellent for the years I used it until I could no longer due to being classified as a business user, and only given a 7-day trial. I never used it for pay nor as a business.

  Cons

  Upon finding some kind of mistake in being labeled as a business over a year ago, I have been trying since then to get my account changed back to personal, even created a new account, but I'm still identified as the same account with the 7-day trial "expired" (why do they even use quotes?). The whole thing is weird. . .I got one response in an email after a few months: sorry we are backlogged with free user account tickets. Good luck if you're gonna try it.

  Summary

  Wish I could be a supporter, but since I am not able to use it and can't get any help in using it, I can't give it or the company a good rating.

  Pros

  It's fast and connecting is reasonably easy to get connected.

  Cons

  If you use this more than a little you'll get 'Commercial Use Detected' warnings and they'll be trying to get you to pay astronomical fees for a license. Anydesk does the exact same thing and is free. VNC is free but slow. There are many other alternatives. Don't support this company and their insane licensing fees.

  Summary

  Go elsewhere. Anydesk, radmin, litemanager, chrome remote desktop, rdp.

  Pros

  Compact, installs quickly, seems quite secure. Easy to use, file transfer and other features very nice.

  Cons

  Pricing is astronomical!!!! Their plan is to pay just once, and its good forever, but how long is forever? You could pay them and they go out of business in a month or two, and what's your recourse?

  Summary

  Sorry to say, I would not pay into this "scheme". The free product is good for occasional installs of competing product, and you can leave it on there if you don't want to "play fair" in TeamViewer's language. I would favor a MUCH less expensive subscription plan over their very pricey plan ($ 3,500 for 3 concurrent users. wow!).

  Pros

  Free version works great, fast, great file transfer, built in chat, talk and video.

  Cons

  You cannot log into a pay version and free version on the same computer. Pay version is restricted compared to free version: limits concurrent device connections, limits concurrent accounts connections, cellphone app does not work with pay version, regardless of when you purchase the next version is full price. Customer service is slow to respond and uncaring.

  Summary

  I love TeamViewer and used it for years to manage my own computers and my families as the families "free help desk". So naturally when the need arose at work I pushed for purchase of TeamViewer corporate. The cost was about $3k for 3 seats. What I didn't realize was the pay version is more restricted than the free version. I have two separate accounts, the one that has my grandma's laptop and the one that has the $10k servers for work. Because I use the same computer for both accounts I get those annoying "Commercial Use Suspected" warnings and eventually it goes into Restricted mode where I can only connect for a few minutes EVEN with the account I paid nearly $3k. TeamViewer support told me I should use two computers and that my use case is too unique to provide a solution. Overall they have been unsympathetic to my problem and slow to provide any kind of solution.

  Ease of use Speed (very quick response) Security (point-to-point) File transfers

  Cons

  The only issue that I have is that Teamviewer requires that both sending and receiving computers have the same version (definitely NOT a deal breaker). However, in the latest version it tells you if the versions are different and gives you the option to update the remote client.

  Summary

  In short, if you can't get it to work right or have connection issues, perhaps YOU did something wrong. Many companies block connections from out of country IP addresses. If you got a license error on the free version are you sure you installed it right. It's atrocious that people tend to blame the product when most of the time it's because they don't know what they are doing.

  All the pros is overshadowed by a major flaw

  Cons

  You can't use it when you need it. I set this so that I can remote into my office computer from overseas. It worked fine when I tested it from the same country but when I tried using it overseas it keeps coming up with errors and then apparently my "license" has expired--I was under the impression that I was using this as a free program if there was redtape involved I would have never bothered. What a total waste of my time. I wish it was never recommended to me and if anyone is thinking of using it the same way I am then don't!

  Works well if you do not care about your privacy.

  Cons

  Software monitors your use and reports to their server to try detect commercial use. Reports false positives.

  Summary

  I have no need for functionality on my computer that compromises my privacy.

  Beats other methods of remote access (e.g. Pogo Plug) Has worked for me without problems every time No advertising, no nag screens Free!

  Cons

  Instructions could be a bit more explicit; however, they have improved a bit in the later versions.

  Summary

  TeamViewer has replaced my Pogo Plug and Seagate NAS -- none of which really worked -- for remote access. Any files that I need, I simply use TeamViewer to copy to my Dropbox and voilà! it's available at the remote location.
