CNET Editors' review
This free application impressively allows you to schedule programs to run and close and hands out quick pop-up reminders. System Scheduler lets you schedule specific times to open programs and even send keystrokes to be entered. You can set events to run as often as every minute or as sporadically as once a year. Schedule the program's window watcher to close, minimize, or automatically send key presses to any opened window by simply entering the title that will appear in the title bar of your browser or file and the time you want the action to occur. We also like that it includes pop-up reminders with optional WAV audio files for important events and you can hit snooze for the reminder to reappear in so many user-specified minutes. For automatic program launching and quick reminders, System Scheduler is an excellent choice and best of all--it's free.Publisher's Description

"To much complicated"
Version: System Scheduler 3.41
Pros
Many options and manners of using
Cons
It takes time to create even a simple task. One click task would be nice.
-
"Quality product. Interface atrocious!"
Version: System Scheduler 3.41
Pros
Quality product, good features.
Cons
Challenging learning curve and I feel like I'm working with a Q-DOS interface.
Summary
For some reason the easthetics bother me too much I just don't feel like learning the program let alone using it. But I'm sure if you get over that, you'll agree with everyone else that it's great.

"really works, and very good!"
Version: System Scheduler 3.41
Pros
very easy interface, really works
Cons
not til now
Summary
does what I was trying years with the "windows scheduled tasks" to do.
I wanted just to lunch a software automatically every hour, and it looks well in the win function but didnt work for me... (tried in win98 and XP)
this software Does IT and well. -
"Simple, straight forward, exactly what I wanted."
Version: System Scheduler 3.41
Pros
Extremely simple interface, very light on the ram, minimizes to tray on close so you can't accidentally skip a scheduled task.
Cons
Interface could have text labels. Icons could be original (for instance, to run a task, you press an unlabeled button with the win 98 'refresh' icon on it).
Summary
All in all, I'm very pleased with this program. The interface could be slightly more intuitive, but since I never look at the interface, it really doesn't matter. After all, this program is so reliable that I simply set it up and forget about it. I use it to automate daily backups and start a .pls online radio file at 5 am to wake me up. Great way to automate; which, after all, is what a computer is for, right?

"Crashed my PC - Took days to fix."
Version: System Scheduler 3.41
Pros
Interface seemed like it was going to be easy to use...
Cons
... but when I went to create my first task, clicked save, and BANG.. blue screen of death (in Windows Vista).. took a couple days to recover the computer, couldn't even boot initially.
Summary
Install at your own risk!!!!!

"Does What I Need"
Version: System Scheduler 3.41
Pros
Schedules tasks in XP without requiring user password.
Cons
None affecting me.
Summary
I have a stand-alone unattended remote computer running XP that requires a regular reboot. In order to have the computer boot up and self-start my apps - I do not use an account password. By doing so - I don't have to deal with a log-in screen. Therefore in the event of a power failure - or routine reboot - the computer simply starts up and begins doing its thing. No login required.
I needed to schedule a reboot command in case certan software failed - but the XP scheduler WON'T RUN scheduled tasks without a password - but if I have a password - the computer can't just start - someone has to log-in. Ugh! A catch 22!
Enter System Scheduler. I can schedule my reboot without a password - and everything just works. You couldn't ask for more.
But wait - aren't reboots part of the paid upgrade? Not necessarily. Just shedule and run the XP program Shutdown.exe - which is the command Windows uses. You'll find it in the System32 folder. Run "Shutdown.exe -?" to see all options.
Thanks for a simple solution to a simple problem. -
"great scheduler for reminders and much more"
Version: System Scheduler 3.41
Pros
this is the first free program i've found to do scheduling every X hours or X minutes. this can do simple reminders or run other programs at various schedules. the flexibility of how you schedule something is exactly what i was looking for.
Cons
no cons i can think of
Summary

"Very good."
Version: System Scheduler 3.41
Pros
Easy to use.
Cons
no any negative comments so far for this product.
-
"Well worth looking at!!"
Version: System Scheduler 3.41
Pros
This software answered all I asked of it for controlling the up time of a home automation computer and launching the neccessary applications on startup. Got the pro version and was well worth the dosh in my opinion. Amazing program for its size ~950k
Cons
Would be useful if it had an application terminator instead of having to send keystrokes or mouse clicks. Won't start a computer up after a shutdown - has to be from a hibernate (but no scheduler Ive seen can do this!) Pros way outweigh the cons!
-
"Install and forget"
Version: System Scheduler 3.41
Pros
This is probably the only spyware protector you will ever need. It has an auto update feature and scheduled scan. The best part is that it is free! :)
