Editors' review

Synchronizing files and folders can be an excruciating process for people who need to transfer many files from one place to another within their computers. Synchredible offers an alternative to spending countless minutes copying, clicking, and dragging files into new locations, and it has a great deal of success.

This free download look a little intimidating at first with its very sparse display, but it's easily mastered. Select two files or folders from the file tree drop-down and you are on your way. Synchredible keeps you on pace by telling you where you are in the seven-step process at every screen. After selecting the information, and choosing in which direction it will flow, you can organize a filter, set a scheduler, and more. These steps are intuitive and make sense right away. The most important step is the final one, however, because it gives users the opportunity to sync only unique files, which prevents duplicates from being created.

From there, the files trade information. Users are given a readout of how many files transferred, any warnings, and how long the process took.

Overall, Synchredible is a fantastic product that works smoothly. The only rough patch came when we attempted to browse the Help menu and nothing happened. For users who don't find Synchredible intuitive, this could be a problem. However, we had such a smooth run synchronizing our files that we still highly recommend this freeware.

    "Sync Time: Win8 = 380 seconds. Synctoy = 8 seconds"

    February 05, 2014   |   By overhand1

    Version: Synchredible 4.100

    Pros

    Inexpensive, functions on win 8.1

    Cons

    S L O W - kinda like molasses - regardless of connection speed.

    Summary

    - An XP PC w/ SyncToy 2.1 checked 2,500 files & sync'd in approx. 8 seconds while a Win 8 PC w/ this Synchredible checked the same 2,500 files & sync'd, as necessary, in approx. 320 seconds.

    - The 2,500 Files that were sync'd are located on a HP Mediasmart LX195 network drive w/ Windows Home Server.

    - Total sync'd files for both sync programs = approx 2,500.

    - Win 8.1 core i5 lap top has 3.5 - 6.5 MIPS wireless connection. XP PC has Homeplug LAN with 6-9.5 MIPS Homeplug wired connection.

    Updated on Feb 5, 2014

Update: Compare synchronization time to review 2,500 files & sync that have Zero (0) changes:

Synchredible = exactly 430 seconds! YUCK.

Synctoy 2.1 = exactly 16 seconds...HOORAY! somebody got it right!

"Not worth the constant obnoxious popup"

    October 17, 2012   |   By zzdkim

    Version: Synchredible 4.003

    Pros

    Good backup software

    Cons

Constant obnoxious popup to upgrade to paid version

    Summary

This product is one of many free backup / file sync software so I am not sure why they decided to drive people away with constant pop ups. I switched to Cobian backup based on previous reviewer's comments and everything is working fine.

"I found another NO nag Synch program"

    September 10, 2012   |   By DavidQ762

    Version: Synchredible 4.002

    Pros

It does do the job it was intended to do.

    Cons

The number of steps it takes to set up the backup. As well as the [well publicized] nag screen.

    Summary

Recently spent quite a while searching for a program like this. And even tried Synchredible for a bit of time. There is a much more user friendly and truly free program available - Create Synchronicity. Have been using it for about two weeks now and I'm pleased with the results. And to me that's what counts - the end results.

"Works great but nag screens highly annoying"

    March 06, 2012   |   By LGM

    Version: Synchredible 3.301

    Pros

    Fast, full featured, functional

    Cons

Nag screens pop up in the middle of jobs and make you press a button to proceed. Very irritating.

    Summary

I was reluctant to rate this product this low, as the backup functions work great. But the nag screens that pop up and make you click a button to proceed are extremely annoying. This makes this product unsuitable for automated unattended backups. If they didn't market this as "free" it would be a different matter. But because of the nag screens it's not really free. I gave this up because I didn't like the nag screens. If you're looking for a backup program that has as many or more features, consider Cobian which I am now using. Doesn't have a great interface but it offers a ton of options and is truly 100% free.

    "Unusable "Free" mode is nagware"

    January 28, 2012   |   By Locoblade

    Version: Synchredible 3.300

    Pros

Syncs OK but doesnt do anything out of the ordinary

    Cons

After a couple of days I started getting a huge popup window saying for private use only and in order to use it for commercial purposes order the pro version, implying that I was using it illegally. This comes up several times in the space of about 15 minutes and needs a mouse click to clear it so the app is completely useless as an unobtrusive sync app running in the background.

Im not sure if this nag is triggered by the amount/size of files synced (Im syncing folders with about 80gb of videos and photos) or if everyone gets it regardless, but this software plainly isn't as advertised, Im a private user and nowhere does it say that private use is limited or you'll be hounded by obtrusive nag screens until you buy the pro version (or uninstall it like I'll be doing).

    Summary

    Useless in "free" mode. Avoid

    "Fast but Not free"

    January 02, 2012   |   By MartinCV

    Version: Synchredible Professional 1.3.1

    Pros

It is superfast compared with goodsync (but goodsync is unbearably slow).

    Cons

They say it is free but the keep constantly annoying you with pop-ups for the pro version to eliminate the pop-up. I mean it shows up seeveral times a day with no easy Alt-w or anything to close it).
If they had said so before installing programming and using it I would ***** if I wanted it or not. Now I'm uninstalling and trying Allway Sync free (with limitations stated and buy it if is good. It includes immediate sync which Synchredible doesn't)

    Version: Synchredible 3.102

    Pros

Fast, efficient, easy to install, once set up requires almost no thinking

    Cons

A little hard to set up the files you want to back up the first time

    Summary

I like the program and recommend it

    "Does not work"

    November 26, 2010   |   By ChrisAllen CNET

    Version: Synchredible 3.006

    Pros

    Easy User Interface

    Cons

Doesn't actually work. I pointed this at a folder as source, and another as destination, and let it run several times. It never added source folders that were not present in the destination. That's sort of the point, isn't it?

    Summary

Does not do the basic job it's intended for. This is on Win 7.
