Publisher's Description
From STOIK Imaging:
The program automatically cleans noise in photos obtained from digital cameras, cameraphones, and scanners. The noise removal filter processes the image to reduce noise level providing best possible balance between preserving image details and noise suppression. The noise is reduced by 2-3 stops, so that the noise level of the photo shot at ISO 1600 is effectively reduced to ISO 200-400 levels. The program supports batch processing through shell integration. EXIF data is preserved.
What's new in this version: Version 1.6 improves noise reduction of photos taken with cameraphones.

"Amazing Results!"
Version: Stoik Noise Autofix 1.6
Pros
Incredible results, fully automated processing, virtually no learning curve.
Cons
Not really a "Con" but it would be great if it were available as a PhotoShop compatible plugin rather than a standalone.
Summary
This is one of those apps that must be seen to be believed. Although I wouldn't consider myself to be a "professional", I edit digital images on a frequent basis and am reasonably familiar with high-end "prosumer" editing apps such as Paint Shop Pro X2 and PhotoShop Elements. Apps such as these offer integrated noise reduction filters but (IMO) none of them produce results that are comparable to this standalone STOIK application.
Simply open a noisy digital image and click the "Reduce Noise" button. In a matter of a few seconds the processing is complete and the results are plain to see. The UI also offers a simple "before and after" preview that can be used prior to saving the processed image. For extremely difficult images there is a set of options for manual adjustment but in most cases they won't be necessary. There is also a preference to add a sharpening effect which can be automatically applied during processing.
In summary, $30 may seem a bit steep for an application that performs only one function but when the results are this good it's not difficult to imagine how much effort was required to produce such an effective product. Well worth the investment for serious digital photo enthusiasts!
As an aside, while visiting the developers site I also ran across another top-notch standalone called "STOIK Image Resizer" which allows you to increase the size of low res images (cell phone shots, web images, etc.) without significant loss of quality or digital artifacting. Unfortunately this app is even more costly than Autofix 1.6 but again, the results must be seen to be believed. -
