We like the functionality of this program, which gives you a fine degree of control over the applications that launch at Windows start-up. You can choose which ones start, change the start-up sequence (useful for letting smaller programs launch before the big, slower applications), and set delays between application launches. Though Startup Faster 2004 may cut down your start-up time, the gain isn't dramatic. In our tests, Windows took 10 percent less time to start up. More tinkering may produce better gains and a lot will depend on how many programs you have set to automatically launch. The interface is clear. We like the help tips that appear when you mouse over elements of the interface, and it's convenient to be able to access the properties of a start-up item by right-clicking. If your system launches multiple applications at start-up, this program will help you fine-tune it and may gain you some boot-up speed.

Seems to have really badly PEEVED my firewall program... RESULT I NOW HAVE A MISSING DLL THAT I NEED TO HAVE TO OPEN ABOUT HALF THE PROGRAMS ON MY PC.......OUCH

MY Recent Experiance... GUESS U SHOULD NEVER DO THIS! I installed YourUnistaller (used B4 works well) they now offer a small suite with it... one of which is suppost to spreadout & help u trimm down startup programs to save resources"Startup Faster!" cool name right?anyway....BIG MISTAKE!!!! PC Firewall Plus shut it down halfway(must have tried to recon it"s startup) Now I'm missing an important DLL File that apparently is nessisary to open half the programs on my PC........ AAARRRGGGHHHHHHH. Moral? just don do this sort of thing with ur firewall turned on or Don't bother with any of the extras Youruninstaller is selling... Probably Both.
Speeds Startup & Prevents Timing Conflicts

Excellent program with advanced features. I needed this program due to timing conflicts. A timing conflict can occur when too many programs run at startup at the same time. Common symptoms include missing program tray icons, some startup programs not loading and desktop temporarily freezing/locking up during startup. I've reposted this review under the new version release. I think the negative reviews are from people who just don't understand the purpose of this utility. Advanced Features I Like Include: 1) Startup Faster supports command line switches (it imports startup items perfectly). E.g., "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background 2) Monitors new startup items and imports them automatically into Startup Faster 3) If a program insists on placing another startup item every time it runs, startup faster will recognize this without duplicating startup items (i.e., it will delete the duplicate). 4) You can restore startup items to their original locations, if needed 5) Startup Faster creates a hidden folder in the Startup Folders to hold the startup items under it's control. 6) Imports startup items from the Startup folders AND the Run sections in the registry. 7) You can change the order that startup items run. By doing this, you can change the order that icons appear in your tray. 8) You can disable or enable individual startup items as needed. There are many other great features. Give the demo a try (fully functional). Note: The delay time for each item is the delay before the NEXT item will run (not the delay of THAT item).

Summary
I didn't find it as good as my Startup Manager that I have with Advanced Windows care. That I understand without any problems, and I can disable anything that I don't want starting automatically. This program actually slowed my startup time. I uninstalled it, and was sorry I had ever put it in.

Cons
Launching startup programs one at a time slows down boot up and boot down time. Startup Optimizer is a better choice because I can disable startup programs and my computer starts up and shuts down faster.
