From Online Language Help:
Spanish Vocabulary Screensaver - the name says everything. It can serve as a good tipnote for all people who study this language. The screensaver automatically updates itself via the Internet. It's passive learning for constant immersion.
What's new in this version:
Added support for Mac OS X 10.6 Now includes more popular words
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. an excellent idea still requiring further development. I just installed and have run across unfortunate problems:
1] misspelled words - curiously, the Spanish word for 'vocabulary' is here given as 'vocabulaio' - correct spelling is 'vocabulario'.
2] missing diacritical marks - new students in particular need to see the words with the stress placed over the correct syllable and these are missing here. at any rate, all but the most casual writers include diacritical marks in the written language.
3] delayed English translation - there is scarcely a second's time between the appearance of the Spanish word and the English translation. this reduces drill effectiveness.
one hopes to see the product mature with more options such as proficiency levels and categorical vocabulary lists.
at this point it cannot be recommended since the editing gaffes would mislead students.
