If you have an attention span of at least an hour, this game will capture you, and never let go. It does start out slow, but you would be amazed how much happens each turn after the first year or so.
Great game but hard to get started, once you get it, its world...no scratch that universal domination!
This is the best game of it's type I have ever played. Screw Star Trek.
Imagine a game where you control every aspect of your nations economy, research hundreds of different technologies plus design frigates, carriers and dreadnaughts with dozens of different components. Spies conduct espionage missions and your opponents negotiate politics based on their racial characteristics.
SEIVG is one of the most complex 4x, turn based strategy games ever created. My friends and I have been playing this game for years (starting with SE II). If you love civilization, MOO or MOM you will love this game.
I began playing Space Empires my first year in college when I downloaded a demo of SE:III. A year later, I discovered that I had been missing out on the relatively new SE:IV. Upon further investigation, I discovered there was a Gold Edition of the SE:IV demo. I downloaded it, and within three hours I had ordered my copy from Shrapnel Games.
This game is the standard by which all other games should be measured.
Hi Hi Hi
If you like turn based games like Civilization 3 and Master of Orion 2 then you will love this game. The makers of this game really put their all into the demo (I have the full version of the non gold edition which rocks too). The fact where you can edit your ships to have the weapons you want in them and the combat options I find makes this game even better then Civilization 3. I will warn you however that if you do not like turn based games cause you find them too slow (meaning games that can last days and weeks) then do not bother with this game as it is a great, strategic, LONG, turn based game.
Very detailed and lots of thought put into this one! They didn't miss a trick here. You want intense you got it.GREAT JOB!
