First and foremost, this product is hundreds of dollars less than its competitors. As someone casually interested in 3D animation I was not about the shell out $500 to buy a copy of some unapproachable software like Animation Master. Sketchers Studio is intuitive and lets you get right to the fun of making your own movies. That being said, the software does have its limitations. You won't be making any believable animations of a man walking, or of changing facial expressions, but if you want to design a house and produce a quality walkthrough, or make a movie of the space-shuttle landing in your front yard this product is for you.
Sketchers Studio uses Google Sketchup models exclusively. This is a mixed blessing. While you are limited from using models produced in other standard 3d formats, you have easy access to the entire Google Sketchup Warehouse. Take a look at the warehouse online. There are tens of thousands of models and if you can think of it it has probably already been made. From a Star Destroyer, to the white house, to the Stage from U2s last tour, its all there.
Within a week of buying this software I got my money's worth, but it just kept getting better! There are great tutorials on youtube, and the Sketchers Studio support team was able to help me when there was no tutorial available, or when I required a new feature.
The bottom line is this.
Download the demo. Play around with it for an hour and I guarantee you'll be hooked. This software opens the door making computer animation accessible to folks like me with no previous experience necessary!
THIS IS A 5 STAR PRODUCT FOR A BEGINNER.
an experienced animator will likely feel limited and have to shell out half a grand for the next product up.
