"They claim to be whoever they want. System Mechanic 4me"

    October 16, 2013   |   By who63

    Version: ShowMyPC Collaboration 3152

    Pros

None. These people are after your money, anyway they can get it. By Hook, or by crook. They say they are from any company they "Know you'll believe".. Never, never go to any site they tell you to go to, & Hang up on them.

    Cons

They are Cons! I don't know where they got my information. But with what they knew about my Iolo System Mechanic Subscription, I'm guessing someone from Iolo is selling customer data. They knew my phone number, full name, my subscription end date. I'm a computer tech myself, so the 1st time they called from 323-257-8886, then 303-351-5184, then yesterday (10.15.13) again 303-357-5178. Do Not go to the website they give you! I went just that far this time because I wanted to know, where the www would take me (STUPID!) Just by going there, He was able to put a folder with all kinds of activeX files, & I'm now getting a DOS window popping up every-time I turn my PC on, but i can't catch what it is. I GOT WORK TO DO NOW! I'm angry

    Summary

I called iolo twice, because i knew the calls were fishy. I've used the program for years, & Never got these calls. Both times, the Tech said, "We do not call customers for any reason". OH.. the excuse was, "They were watching my PC from the Iolo server, & could see Errors, & wanted to remotely connect to fix it. The first time, the website was a Adware, maleware program site, but I didn't write it down. Yesterday, it was showmypc.com. Someone within Iolo is selling Customer information, & or, they've been hacked. I just shut my auto renew off with system mechanic, & calling all my customers i can remember who bought it on my word. I'm not saying System Mechanic itself did anything, but until I said to them yesterday, "I was no longer recommending their software to customers, family & friends until I knew this was fixed, & I was not renewing when my subscription ended." Thats the 1st time the guy said, "He'd contact their fraud dept, & report it."

    Updated on Oct 16, 2013

Whether it works or not, turn them in anyways! If I could get to "New Deli, India", where everyone showmypc.com said they were calling from. Their heavy accents convinced me. AND, further more, I found out System Mechanic "Real Tech Support" is out of New Deli India. I'm done with System Mechanic. If i can't understand the tech support persons broken English, then what good are they to us customers.

"Please read how this tool is abused by hackers."

    June 27, 2013   |   By Bavanandan

    Version: ShowMyPC Collaboration 3152

    Pros

    showmypc.com.

    Cons

2 people called me on my house phone, told me they were from Windows Microsoft, that I had error report going to Microsoft from my computer and they went into my computer remotely and told me they could fix. They said my Windows warrantee had expired and wanted to sell me a 1yr for 25$ more yrs. more money. I told them I would have to check it out. Less than 10 min passed and another call. That's when they said my computer was crashing. I told them it was covered by insurance, they hung up. I did lose a few programs but nothing I can't live without. These people had external access to my computer. First thing I had to do was press windows icon on keyboard and letter r at same time it took me to a website called showmypc.com. Were these people really representing Windows- Microsoft? If not who should I report it to? They also originally gave me a call back number in case I changed my mind. 1800-651-2595 but was told it would then cost me 125.00.

    Summary

callers informed me windows warantee expired, said my computer was about to crash and they controlled my computer externally, some icons started to disappear on desktop. I turned computer off.

    June 11, 2013   |   By JesperBimmer

    Version: ShowMyPC Collaboration 3152

    Pros

    Based on TightVNC

    Cons

No problems with connection between computers
    but slow screen refresh :-(
especially compared to the other, such as teamviewer.

    Summary

An unprofessional solution built on top of TightVNC,
If you try ShowMyPc.com then remember there are NO refund.
