CNET Editors' review
Chances are, right now you have something on your computer that you would rather other people not see. Financial information, a diary, photographic evidence of a night of debauchery--you know what we're talking about. Fortunately for you, SafeHouse Explorer USB Flash Drive Encryption makes it easy to keep your private stuff private, on a flash drive or on your computer.
In our adventures as software reviewers, we see a lot of amateurish software, so it was a breath of fresh air when we opened SafeHouse Explorer and found a well-designed and well-explained program. The application walks first-time users through the process of creating a secure volume, setting a password, and moving sensitive files there. The program looks very much like Windows Explorer, and using it is much like moving files in and out of a regular folder; the main difference is that the files are protected by passwords and, more importantly, 256-bit encryption. Users can create as many SafeHouse Explorer volumes as they like of whatever size they like, and we especially like that volumes can be created on any drive--including USB flash drives--without a separate installation of the software. SafeHouse Explorer's online Help file is well-written and thorough, and the publisher also provides an informative video tutorial. We were impressed with both the looks and functions of SafeHouse Explorer, and we highly recommend it.
SafeHouse Explorer USB Flash Drive Encryption is free. The program installs politely but leaves a folder and desktop icon behind upon removal. We recommend this program to all users.

"As advertised."
Version: SafeHouse Explorer for U3 3.01
Pros
Simple to operate. The self contained encryption software can be loaded on multiple flash drives for use on any system.
Cons
Requires a full installation of the Zip File on the initial computer hard-drive prior to the transfer of a small program to a memory stick.
.Summary
I wish I had discovered this free program prior to my buying an expensive Sandisk Memory Stick with proprietary encryption software pre-installed. This program is as secure as Sandisk's and can be installed on less expensive brand name sticks.

"Requires a U3 Flash drive to install??"
Version: SafeHouse Explorer for U3 3.01
Pros
None, there is no pro I can see since it will not install without a U3 product.
Cons
Requires US Flash Drive to install
Summary
Don't waste your time downloading this unless you have a U3 Flash Drive, whatever or who ever U3 is, I am glad to know the name so I don't accidently purchase anything from them, if they would run this trick trying to get you to look at their software imagine the trick they will play once you are stuck with their products.
Please disregard my review, I did not see I got the wrong version and posted before I found my error. The product is actually outstanding!
Very poor form.

Version: SafeHouse Explorer for U3 3.01
Pros
I liked everything about it until it started giving me General Error messages on my created files.
Cons
I liked everything about it until it started giving me General Error messages on my created files.
Summary
I used the software for several weeks and after I thought my data was safe I removed my old data from my computer. Now when I try to open the Safehouse files I created I get a General Error message and all my data is lost.
