"Good backup alternative to local backup"

Files-It is folder based and not file based so you could have multiple files if you reorganize your folders. So if the file exists or is moved to another folder it will get backed up again even if it the same exact file.
Encryption-Some confusion over how to activate encryption. Tutorials say you have to activate it during first time set up. Support says it automatically running.
Scheduling-It doesn't run the backup the next time you turn on your pc if you miss the scheduled backup time. It won't backup until your pc is actually is running during the next scheduled backup time.Summary
Definitely worth consideration. Just understand the pros and cons before you decide. No regrets, just more planning and thought required. Others like Dropbox, SkyDrive and Carbonite are more intuitive and easier to use but you pay a steep price for that.

Interface is simple to use and set up, tech support is always very willing to help out where needed, cost is very reasonable. I also need higher levels of encryption to be compliant with privacy laws since I'm a doctor and use SOS to backup my electronic health records, and SOS is able to provide the additional security. I've been using SOS for about a year now and have been very happy!
Cons
It is easy to end up with duplicate files in your online backup, so it is helpful to periodically go in and manually clean out your online backup. That said, it's pretty easy and painless to do. A slight hastle, but nothing that would cause me to consider switching to another service.

It works well with multiple computers and I have access to my files wherever I am. Both the desktop app and web interface are easy to use. I also like the fact that a local backup option is included. The price for 100 gigs was lower than the competition. I received a quick response from the help desk on a question about how to delete files.
Cons
Loading 40 gigs of backup data took a long time over DSL. Needed to ask for help on a couple of features since it wasn't obvious how to use them.

Summary
I initially had big problems getting SOS to work properly on my pc. I talked to Tech Support many times over many days; they were great and walked me through, step by step, until all the kinks were worked out. Now it runs smoothly and does not slow down my computer at all. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because I have not retrieved anything or had to restore from it yet, so I can't comment on those features.

Tech support has been very helpful and responsive.
Easy to check how close you are to the storage allowance, and easy to specify which files you want backed up.Cons
Moving files into different folders leads to duplicate backups; ie, a file gets saved as a new file (and counts towards your GB limit) when you move it somewhere new.
Summary
Given the ease of using this, I anticipate renewing at the end of my 1-year contract.

This is a very to use system. Backups run fairly quickly. I do wish there was an option to view thumbnails during recovery in case you are searching for a specific photo. But, I honestly can't say if this option is available with other backup software packages.

the only thing i could think of is that it would be nice if it was available in my language (Dutch), but this is not a must.

I have tried to find a simular tool here in the netherlands but without luck. SOS is by far the most complete tool. it works easy and you are in full control of your files anywhere in the world. for me it is the best solution to backup all my pc's , iphone etc.
You will get great support, fast too!
