Zombies are the craze now in television shows and movies, so why not game apps? Running Dead lets you battle the undead on your iPhone. Its sharp graphics and fun gameplay will make it an enjoyable addition to your game library.
Before getting started, you'll have to create a username and set your privacy options (we turned our public profile off). You'll also have to choose which weapon you want from the armory and which character you want to be, though some weapons and characters require extra coins. The Options menu lets you select a game layout to change where you make your turns and where you fire. There are also two game modes: easy and hard. We found the easy mode pretty darn difficult, so you'll have plenty of time to work your way to the more challenging mode. Advanced options let you adjust game sounds and access the tutorial. We loved Running Dead's training feature that let us get a feel for the gameplay and got us ready for the real thing. During the training, we were shown how to move from side to side (by tapping or tilting your phone -- your choice), how to pick up extra bullets, and how to aim at and shoot zombies. During the real deal, we navigated through deserted streets and rooms while being chased by zombies. It took us a little bit of time to get used to the controls, but in no time we were racking up points by taking down the zombies, and picking up extra bullets along the way. You can see your points and bullet status at the top of the screen; there's also a pause button in case you need to take a breather.
If you need to get your zombie fix while on the go, we highly recommend Running Dead as a fun and challenging iPhone app. It's well worth the 99-cent price tag.
