CNET Editors' review
POS stands for point of sale, but small-business owners who have struggled to implement PC-based POS systems sometimes use a more colorful phrase. Retail Man POS from Ezisolutions aims to answer the many shortcomings of other POS suites, chief among them the confusion they cause in the owner who sets them up and the employees who use them. Retail Main POS features descriptive icon images and pop-up labels that help clarify just what each icon does, be it sales, inventory, payments, or contacts. It's a full-featured POS system, too, with invoices, inventories, balance sheets, reporting, and even barcode printing.
When we opened Retail Man POS, a setup wizard allowed us to enter basic information about our business, accounts, contacts, and so on. We suggest gathering all your business and account information beforehand and taking your time while setting up Retail Man POS; it'll pay off later, but it's crucial to enter everything correctly, and there's lot to enter. Once we'd gone through each of the setup tabs, we turned to the main interface. The toolbar's icons will help even semiliterate employees click the right entry. We clicked the Point of Sale screen, and a blank purchase order appeared. From the POS interface, we could access any of the features on the file menu, including Accounts, Purchases, Payrolls, Diary, Sales, and Stock; each entry had subdirectories filled with choices far too numerous to mention, save to suggest that nothing seems to have been left out. Each of the icons we clicked opened a colorful, attractive dialog specific to the task. The program has extras like a calendar, calculator, notes, and staff sign in/out features; the latter functions like a basic time clock. The Maintenance menu accesses a considerable range of setup and configuration options, so it's easy to change entries, reconfigure tools, and add functions as your business grows. When you exit the program, it asks if you want to run a backup, a nice reminder that also helps keep you from accidentally closing the program.
Retail Man POS is unquestionably a full-featured point-of-sale system, yet it's among the easiest to set up and use that we've encountered, either on the test bench or in the field (especially in the field). Two things in particular stand out: The clearly labeled icons, which make for smooth daily operations, and its fine design in general, especially the clarity and efficiency of its many tools and display fields.

"Great program, great support, great price!"
Version: Retail Man POS 1.90
1. Excellent price, very reasonable price for additional lanes, no recurring charges or expenses for lot of necessary add-ons.
2. Responsive and understanding tech support.
3. Easy to customize program.
4. Professional, uncluttered screen.
I haven't found any.
As the owner of a small business, I had more time than money to invest in finding the right POS system, meaning that I spent several weeks installing, trying and subsequently uninstalling trial versions of POS software. Like 30 different systems. Some were outrageously expensive ($5000 and up), others required monthly licensing fees (no thanks), and still others had very funky graphics and very high fees for each additional lane. I use laptop computers in my business and move from location to locations. We have a highly seasonal business, so for two months a year we need 4 checkout lanes; the rest of the year it's one or two only. So you can see why investing thousands into POS just wasn't going to work for me.
Retailman came to my attention late in the game (wish I'd found it weeks earlier). The graphics are simple, the import/export is a breeze, and my crew has found it very easy to learn. Setup was not difficult, and their tech support has been wonderful, patient and highly responsive about demonstrating anything I found unclear or need to have tweaked to work for my specific company.
I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend this program.

After 6 months of use, I can't find any!
I was given the task of finding a new POS for our retail store. We had tried two different POS's in the previous 6 months at our first two stores and there were always problems. We were paying crazy amounts for setup and support and they weren't doing what we wanted.
So I downloaded and tested almost a dozen different POS's trying to find one that our teenage employees could find easy to use and our managers could use to control all the day to day operations while also giving HQ all the info it needed to grow the business.
Retailman did it all at a great price to boot. We got the networked version that got us 3 stations that run over the store network for under $500. The last two POS's we bought were $3,000 for two stations just for the software!
I took my time testing all the ins and outs of RMan during the free trial so by the time the store opened, we were ready to roll. I exported the database from one of our other stores into excel and zero'ed out the quantities. This database had 10,000 items and I had it inputted into the new software in minutes.
Setting up the rest of the software was easy too. it will accept pretty much any printer, cash drawer and scanner you can install into windows. As with any new piece of software, the more the use it the easier it gets. That being said I had trained the store manager and the 6 employees on everything they needed to run the store in less than 15 minutes.
We are dropping the other POS's and converting all our stores to RMAN. I can't say enough good about it.
"Intuitive, Professional, Easy to implement, outstanding"
Version: Retail Man POS 1.90
The support and feedback is second to none. Many request where implemented within days. Reposts amended and appended. Simple and easy for users to operate and understand. Large feel small price. Multi User and location a bargain. Very understandable
Really not many and are more back office than front POS. Character control/cursor positioning when going through tabs on screen, it's not really a negative, more annoying. Report designer poor, but if you ask they will make whatever report you need.
Been a user since '06 and I'm one of the 'sold' ones. I researched and tried about every POS system available, even had RetailMan in it's infancy. But it's a grown up now and can play with the big boys. The personal commitment to making it easier to run your business was the first thing that impressed me. Minor issues we found/had were addressed immediately (and we where still trialling it). We introduced RetailMan to our business (previous Sage user for 12yrs) and it was a breath of fresh air. Having used RMan for this long we have come to know the software quite well and hopefully with our constant feedback made some operational and useful changed, ever tried that with Sage? We were struggling to control the paperwork and get a handle on just what was going on and RMan released us from many of the tedious repetitive tasks we were trapped in. With additional functionality add by our request we could allow the staff to deal more efficiently with the sales rather than the receipt writing etc. Customer Loyalty is a snap with RMan. We even had our ladies nicknames on the receipts, how much more personal does it get, being served by 'Wee Betty' Elizabeth. There's a fabulous addition of the gift receipt, our girls didn't type anything them selves but allowed the customers to write a personal message on a 'Gift Receipt' which has no prices on it but all the information you need to identify the product, great addition and a lot of fun at the check-out. A great feature is the Equivalent Part Numbers function, imagine all the numbers that could identify a product, the Supplier Number, the Items Barcode, your Barcode, your Item Number, not a problem just tell RMAn that your Item Code could be identified by any of the other and it'll find the right one and import to your till screen in a heartbeat. 2 people dealing with 2 customers at the same time, not a problem Staff 1 just layits away and Staff 2 can serve their customer, even if Staff 2 layits away, then Staff 1 just picks up their sale and continues, no waiting to use the till or having to rush a customer, perfect. Adding special messages that pop up on screen when staff sell something, be it a warning 'Check age of customer. Only Sold to 18yrs or over' or a sales prompt 'When buying a suitcase, all Travel Accessories Save 10% OFF!' COOL!
I like many users of RetailMan know the developer but it's not that I've ever met him, it's because he's accessible and is always open to suggestions to improve the software for us the users. I noticed someone said 'Cons: Not a company to be trusted' but no reason why, that's just silly another says 'Waste time. I do not know if this a SCAM. . ' if you don't know don't say. Sounds very much like some competitors aren't happy with the success. I'm happy if you want to check me out feel free, I am Allan MacDonald former MD of Facchino (UK) Ltd. Luggage and Leathergoods store in Lytham England (former because we sold the business last year) RMan is still operational in the store so the new owners where suitably impressed too. I'm actually still a user of EziSolutions software as I use their EziAccounts package, it's just like RMan but hasn't got POS. If you want an easy to use and wonderfully supported POS software, from a company and developer that are truly and accessible and do listen and make improvements to make your life easier in running your business, then look no further. If you would like to discuss my remarks or to 'check' me out if I'm real, feel free to contact me at allan#@s2k#uk.com (just remove the #) I'll be pleased to discuss any questions you've got about the software or how it works. Have I a vested interest? No, I just like this particular piece of software and the developer because they are working to make your business easier to run. It's easy to be enthusiastic with a project/development that is enthusiasticly driven by the developer and that listens to not only your input (if it's reasonable and sensible) but your needs. Download it and try it, you won't regret it!
"Beware of companies reviewing their own software"
Version: Retail Man POS 1.81.6
Simple & Easy to use
Not a company to be trusted.
"Not Worst POS Software, Not Truly Free to Try."
Version: Retail Man POS 1.81.6
All useful functions are disabled, such as support point-of-sale printers, cash drawers etc, means you must pay then you can try. So unless you run the till yourself or trust the staff 100% then it's useless.
Waste time. I do not know if this a SCAM.
Version: Retail Man POS 1.81.6
Great program, fast operation, very robust, good support, many features even ones not found in more expensive software, reasonable price, supports a wide range of pos hardware, many reports.
Could do with a web module to integrate with my server.
I have looked for a POS program for sometime and tested many of them with a price range of $100 to over $2000. Finally I found Retailman and
have been using it for over a year now and I am really pleased with its performance.
It does more than many other programs and has a very nice feature set that is well suited to my business,
its very robust and very fast to implement and use, it is also very easy to use, it take me around 5 minutes to teach new staff on how to use it.
I run the multi-location for my three stores and Retailman does handle the job very well, but I wish it could run on my web server.
Version: Retail Man POS 1.81.6
The software has basic features for small business. Very easy to use.
You can also rename all fields.
Lack advanced pos business features
It's a basic software.
Version: Retail Man POS 1.81.4
Easy to install,Easy to use.
Expiry date for products couldn't be tracked though Option for expiry date is given on purchase screen. (No reports or warning message regarding products expiry)
Good for any retail business because you can rename field to suite your business. Reports can be customized and designed to your need. There is no unnecessary field like customers hobby, customers job or date of birth. One more important feature which I like is there is no compulsory field to be filled in on Customers Registration or Supplier details except their name.(You can update details at any time later)
"A program that fullfills all my business needs"
Version: Retail Man POS 1.80.70
Easy to you.
Has a very large range of features.
Did I mention fast?
Unlike most of the other programs out there, it is not bloatware.
With great support most if not all bad things about program have been fixed.
Running a small-medium business takes enough time as it is. So I needed a program that was quick to learn, powerful and fast.
As for my first priority: Ease of use. Well most other programs out there confused me greatly. I do not have an accounting degree and do not intend to get one, so why get something overtly complex? After looking around for an easy program I stumbled across retailman. Since then I have never looked back. It is a pleasure to use.
Having tried a few one thing became evident. The more information that most programs store the slower they get. With retailman I tested if for around three months and realized it had not slowed down one bit. And now with over one years worth of work on it I still do not notice any difference in speed.
With over a years worth of work, I have not had any problems so far apart from a minor bug (that was fixed within a few days of being reported - talk about quick service). The program simply works well at what it does. Well done ezisolution!!!
"its work good"
