This is yet another utility to find and remove problem Windows Registry entries, but it also suffers from a common limitation problem in this genre. Registry Errors Fix's simple four-step interface is easily mastered by any user. Even so, the Help file spends more space on licensing than operation.

Starting this app is almost wizard-like. Users merely choose which Registry sections the program will scan. It's a quick two-step process of clicking the function button and then check boxes for any or all of 11 sections. This software checks the same Registry areas as other programs in the genre; missing startup programs, improper application paths, removed font files, and other similar errors are covered. The app scans the Registry quickly and displays the number of problems found for each section. With a click users can drill down for detailed problem lists. A single check will repair all problems in a section, or users can check individual problems to repair while saving others from the knife. A default option backs up all keys before they're deleted.

Registry Error Fix's problems start with the delete problem keys step. The demo doesn't allow you to delete keys; instead, the program opens the browser to a defunct Web address. There is no way to check how well the app backs up, deletes, or restore keys. While novice users may appreciate this program's simple operation, it isn't flexible enough for experienced users, and most testers will bristle at the heavy demo limitation that forestalls a full test of the application.
