In the previous RPG Maker XP you had to use the script called RGSS but now you can use most of the functions with easier setups.

when your done downloading you start the aplication and it says Rpg Maker VX is not instaled on this computer

Pros
- The tiles are pretty detailed. - You can use all the tiles on one map. - Has an easy to use worldmap feature.
Cons
- A bit too noob-friendly, and just seems restrictive at times. - It's hard to find which tiles look right with what. - If you ever used the XP version, than you're used to having corners, but this is all flat tiles. Not good for aesthetics.
Summary
Besides the different tileset configuration, it's pretty much the same as the XP version. If you already own the XP version, there's really not much incentive to update. It's a good edition for what it is, but not very innovative. If it were to be cheaper, I'd cut it more slack.
Do NOT Buy this game. Can not validate serial numbers

Cons
When buying this game!! You will recieve a serial number. When you enter the serial number, the game will try to authenticate with their servers. Their servers NO LONGER exist!!!!!! And there is no way to get your money back.. THANKS CNET!

Too simple in some cases, the limit on tilesets seems stupid

Overall, VX is decent, the improvements it makes over previous versions are very nice, however, for anyone looking to create an extremely in-depth RPG the tileset and layer restrictions really set VX back.
Good thing I didn't bought this.

Pros
Good looking, cheaper in comparison to other game engines out there, light weight. Packed with a random dungeon generator. RGSS2 makes the scripting easier and shorter. Compatible to with Vista and 7
Cons
Not advisable for a big and complicated project. As always, the graphics filter is not good. Rough! But somewhat better compare to its predecessors. The default resolution can only be adjusted through scripting, what a hassle.
Summary
Apply 30+ events (idle, autorun, scripted, etc..) in a map and FEEL THE LAG! How much more if it is 100, which is the maximum limit per map? It's predecessor is a lot better, that's for sure. Though you need to install additional plug-ins to make it run in Vista or 7.

Easy to use System Fully customizable, If your a good scripter with a good imagination! Anything you don't like can be changed, I guess thats trait 2.
Cons
Battle System is failed (Can be fixed with good scripting and programming) Tilesets limited to 5 (Can be changed with scripting)
Summary
This is a great RPG Maker, Anything you don't like can be edited... Got an idea? Learn to script and make it happen! This is a no-limit program, all you need is an imagination and the ability to script and you can make anything happen! But if you don't know how to script, thats okay! This program has many features for newbies built in!
Great Software! Pretty Pricey.

What I like most is the dual wield option because I just love dual wields. Much better frame rate Integrated dash function Functions to automatically generate generic elements, like doors, teleports, inns etc Auto-shadows
Cons
Tiny characters make your game look like it comes from a time portal from 1990 RPG Tileset systems Very stupid screen resolution (544 x 416) Major downgrade in the battle system No background scenery in combats
