Proteus Lite is an easy-to-use application for creating printed circuit-board layouts, and is good for hobbyists or students working on small projects. The trial download is basically a pared-down version of Labcenter Electronics' professional PCB application. Proteus Lite creates simple PCBs with 16 copper layers, two silk screens, and four user/mechanical layers, plus an autorouter. Completed designs are suitable for reports, tutorials, or articles. During testing, we found we were forced to register the program before most of the basic functions would work. Also, as the trial version has a 100-pin limitation, we only were able to test Proteus Lite on small schema. Very user-friendly, Proteus Lite is a great program for creating PCBs--but if the trial limitations don't suit you, be sure to check out other programs that aren't as fettered.Publisher's description
From Labcenter Electronics :Proteus Lite is a low-cost EDA package offering facilities for schematic drawing, SPICE simulation, and PCB layout. The ProSPICE simulation module also includes cosimulation of the PIC16F84 microcontroller, and a range of interactive peripheral models such as LCD displays, matrix keypads, and an RS232 terminal. Proteus Lite is the shareware version of our Proteus PCB Design and Proteus VSM professional level package.
Version 6.7 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"The BEST, PCB Design #1 Updated!"
Pros: I liked it because I used previous versions and this is almost the best! PCB and microcontrollers Recommended and Cheap!

Pros: sophisticated software, lots of options
Cons: the option to export in Gerber format is disabled in this trial version, which makes it almost useless.

"Excellent product, easy to learn, very good value."
Pros: Highly configurable, easy to add parts to library, easy to edit pin positions on library parts. Easy to alter default line-thicknesses and to position label and pin numbers.
Cons: The mouse-button functions are sometimes not intuitive. Occasionally a part will become corrupted and will not, for example, allow a connection to its pins. Solution - delete it and re-do. Very minor niggles on an excellent package.
