  Now I can watch my all downloads on my TV.

  Cons

  It isn't a quick process. So don't expect to convert a movie to watch in 5 minutes.

  Pros

  Very easy to install and doesn't install other stuff you don't need. Just the right amount of control. Great to get very obscure video format that no software loads into very compatible popular format. Very large number of format supported as input and output.

  Cons

  FFMPEG decoder should be automatically selected when no valid stream is detected (when no valid stream is found by Prism, it warns and suggest to select the external FFMPEG decoder library).

  Summary

  After losing hours trying to get VLC to convert a very old and weird AVI formatted video into a file that Vegas could load, I solve my problem in very few minutes with the first converter I tried on CNET. After years of testing at least dozen converters, this one is by far the most convivial and functional I tried, even compared to relatively expensive ones.

• Great Converter for Video Files

  Pros

  Fast download, fast converting, high quality file on the back-end. Much cheaper than alternatives and backed by a company that produces multiple high-quality video software products.

  Cons

  The interface could use some updates, but overall the product has easily converted all the files I sent it. They recently updated their terms so that you don't have to purchase frequently anymore!

  Does what it says it'd do.

  ...but does it for only about 3 months. Once the software auto updates itself at any point 3 months after you've purchased a license key, you'll start seeing this message: "Your Trial of Prism Video File Converter Plus has expired - Please buy a copy of the software". I did buy a copy of the software. I spent $49.99 on the software only 13 months ago. Now the software is completely locked and unusable until I pony up another $34.99 for my special discounted pricing for my upgraded software. Upgraded software I never asked for, or ever attempted to download on my own. I located my original registration key and attempted to reauthorize my product, but was told that my registration key was for an older product (that I never attempted to replace in the first place).

  Summary

  Think Prism's FAQ says it all (That they're a thieving website only to milk rubes like me). The FAQ on Prism's website about this issues says this: Problems when moving or updating license FAQ: I get the error that 'this Registration Code is not valid for this version of software' This means the Registration Code you have is older than the product you are trying to enter it into. Our program versions are updated regularly and your serial number purchased is valid for the version available for download at that time, and new releases for 3 months after. We suggest rolling back to your previous version via your backup. Anything outside this time frame requires an upgrade - see www.nch.com.au/upgrade

• Installs too much bloatware

  Pros

  It works for what it is intended to do.

  Cons

  It installs many links to download other programs, such as when right clicking on a JPG, it gives the option to "Convert picture file." When clicked on, it says "Downloading program..." and gives no option to cancel the download. It adds two folders in the start menu full of links (10-20) to download other Prism software. Uninstall is inconvenient, and does not remove all links.
